Terry's condition improving as UNC senior battles strep

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- North Carolina senior Reyshawn Terry has been diagnosed with strep throat, but was expected to play against Southern California in Friday night's East Regional semifinal.

Terry has been sick for nearly a week, starting when he missed the shootaround because of a headache and fever before the Tar Heels' second-round win against Michigan State.

UNC student mascot still critical after being struck by SUV

FORT LEE, N.J. (AP) -- The North Carolina student who suits up as the Ram mascot remained in critical condition Saturday, a day after being hit by a car near his hotel.

Fort Lee police said Jayson K. Ray was returning to the Fort Lee Hilton after a trip to a convenience store and was walking on the eastbound shoulder of Route 4 when he was struck Friday afternoon. The driver of the sport utility vehicle was not charged. Police say he immediately got out of his car to help Ray.
