East Bracket Discussion

So you think they'll get handled inside and they'll (vandy) have to shoot thier asses off to win? Sounds like our game v Gtown last year. How is Wash St's guard play?
I think Vandy will and can win the game by shooting the ball. (I know, profound statement) Wash St. have good guards who attribute for most of their points. I don't know if Wash St. has a huge edge inside though. Their center only puts up 7.9 points a game, and barely over 5 rebounds a game, which isn't bad, but nothing spectacular. If Vandy shoots the ball well, they have a good chance. Let's not forget Vandy's defense came up big against Florida in their win, so if they play well, they def. have a chance.

I agree that GW could give Vandy all they want...

Vandy hit UF on that stretch where they were really struggling to win, and the SEC was really down this year...

They have some good shooters, but really arent a very scarry team at all...

Wazzou IMO is a very good all around team...

Lowe the PG is drawing Steve Nash comparisons...Not saying he is that good, but that is how he plays, dishing the ball, and they have about 4 guys that can score. They shoot the ball well from the outside, have some pretty good size inside, and Kyle Weaver is their Slasher who is very good at getting to the hole and can also knock down some big shots...

This review is all from watching them in the Pac-10 tourney in all their games and the only reason USC got them is b/c they shot about 80% from behind the arc in the first half...

GW has great athletes and some players that playing in the NCAA's for the 3rd straight year. I think this game could be a possible upset. Carl Elliot could really frustrate Byars and a smaller guard oriented line up matches up with GW's style of play.

i was thinking the same thing. they won't be intimidated, that's for sure. however, i'm not sure they can hang with Vandy.

Just like we did in the South who do you guys have wining the first round games...

UNC/Eastern Kentucky

UNC - No reason

Marquette/MSU

MSU - I think Walton will be able to hold down James, and Marquette has been up and down. I think Neitzel will be able to score, and Morgan could present a challenge for Marquette.

USC/Arkansas

USC - I just have a feeling about this one that Arkansas after getting all that disrespect is going to win this game. But if you look on paper USC has the more talented team, with Nick Young and company and if they get hot this could be a double digit win. I believe the opening line was something like -1 so Vegas is thinking that it will be a close game...I just can't see a team that was 7-9 in SEC West as being a major threat to beat USC.

Texas/NMST

Texas - I don't know a lot about NMST. but I keep hearing that they should be rated high and are a very good team. THe thing is Texas has Durant and I just don't see them losing, but this could be an upset in the making...

Vandy/George Washington

G Dubs - Some think that Vandy could be a sleeper and they could with their ability to hit the outside shot. THe thing is G dubs has been here b4, they have guys that can score and defend.

Wazzou/ORU

Wazzou - They are a very well balanced team, they have a great pg in Lowe and a great slasher in Weaver and a coupel big bodies down low and they can shoot the ball. ORU has two studs in Green and Tutt but not much else besides that. I would put this game on upset alert as well, but I think Wazzou will be too much especially in Spokane...

Boston College/TTech

BC - BC has posted a great record when they control the boards...TTech is not that strong inside and is very guard oriented with Jackson and Zeno and I think that Dudley can go off and Rice and Marshall are very good guards.

GTown/Belmont

GTown once again I don't think I need an explanation.

Vand - GW I like Vandy's team
WSU - Oral Roberts Don't ask me why but this is my upset .. Oral roberts by a nose
BC - texas tech BC wins with inside power
Geo - Belmont (well duh)
Texas - New mex Texas has Durant and NM isnt Kansas

This is a weird bracket for me. I see danger for UNC in the second round, but other than that, I think they only need to fear Georgetown. Watch Carolina run a clinic on the secondary break while scoring 90 against Texas. Brandon Wright and Durant head-to-head will have the NBA scouts drooling.

The other teams from the power conferences (Wash. St., USC, Vandy, BC, Texas Tech, Arkansas) don't seem like any real threat to reach the Elite 8.
