High School Early Ohio State Title Picks

Cavball9

Senior
Any picks? I'll stay away from Div IV because I'm biased:

Div I --- Glenville, just too good this year and I think R1 is a bit down outside of them. Colerain (if they get in -- should sneak in at 7 or 8) is second best in the state right now. They're the only ones I think can beat Glenville, other than Glenville beating themselves again.

Div II -- Tallmadge, Jamel Miller leads the way. They've been playing great.

Div III - Steubenville, the Big Red gets a much deserved crown.

Div IV - n/a

Div V -- Versailles. They nearly won Div IV last year, they drop down a division and are still very very good. Patrick Henry gives them the best challenge.

Div VI - Delphos St Johns. Read above. They dropped to VI this year, they'll roll if they can get out of their region. MAC rival Marion Local might upset them in regionals if ML gets in.

Thoughts?

Div IV's not applicable? You think Coldwater's a shoe-in or do you just not want to pick 'em?

I don't follow all divisions enough, but I'd say....

DI - Either Glenville or Colerain.... I think Colerain's improved exponentially since losing to St. X
DIV - Coldwater.... I'm really rooting for this one. If Ross makes it to Canton, I'll get to see him play
DV - Versailles

DV: not to sound rude but patrick henry IMO will cakewalk through the playoffs and win the title game with ease as well. i played this almost exact team last year and they were on a level of "ridiculous" as far as how good a D5 team can be. they should have won last year but the weather really hurt them(im not making excuses either). IMO last year they should have won state in D5 and could of very easily beat EVERY D4 team with the exception of mooney. i think the same applies to this year. i could see them walking all over coldwater and winning D4 even though they are a D5 team.
a key note i would like to make is i honestly would like ohio state to look into marc krauss as a wide receiver. its rare but this kid has an amazing frame(6'3" 205lbs), insane speed, and excellent hands. i have heard that iowa is looking at him for football and baseball and he is a special talent and i would HATE to see him have it wasted because he is at a smaller school. i know many people dont know much about this small team from hamler but if you got to the state games you will be amazed by the ability of marc krauss and his team. PLEASE OHIO STATE LOOK AT MARC KRAUSS!:oh: :io:

Havent really followed a whole lot of high school football, besides some from NW ohio

So DI - Colerain, I think they have the size and speed to match up with Glenville. If we get this match up it will be one hell of a match up. Watch out for St. X as the sleeper as they upset colerain earlier in the year.

DII, DII - I really have no idea.

DIV - don't know the whole state, but if coldwater goes undefeated in the mac that is saying something and I think they will take it, they are very strong.

DV - Gotta go with Versailles here. They are a very tough team, and there is noone in this division that would play with coldwater as well as they did.

DVI - Gonna go with Marion Local.

Div IV -- I said n/a because I'm biased and don't wanna make a prediction. I will say this, Coldwater is rediculously good this year, but Mooney & OG still scare me, especially once Johnson comes back for Mooney (I'm hearing Week 10 or 11).

Div V --- Patrick Henry is good, but I don't think they can shut down Versailles run game. Krauss is a very good player too, but not OSU material, at least in football. He could definately be in baseball though. Krauss is a stud on the diamond. No way does PH roll through playoffs with Versailles looming. PH is good, but not that good.

i would like to agree but i saw their much smaller offensive line literally push around the much larger st henry line from last year. its amazing what that team can do. i doubted krauss's speed at first until i saw krauss run down hemmelgarn down from 10 yards behind and pick him up in one arm and strip the ball out of his arms like a small child. most of the starters and key players are back and they decimated the good delta team last year in the second half in a USC-like fashion. mark my words patrick henry beats versailles by 20+

Hey Cav I think in your last post you mean OG as in Ottawa Glandorf. I don't think Coldwater would have any problem with them. They are just bigger than the guys in the WBL this year. The WBL is at rock bottom this year. I have never seen it so bad.

I think Coldwater would be able to shut down OG pretty easily, with the d they have. Scoring points could be somewhat tough but I would still see a 21-7 win.

it seems like almost everybody is down this year. coldwater stayed about the same and lcc went up, other than that the whole area as a whole is down.

I still am not drinking that LCC kool-aid. The only impressive win was against St. Henry and Grove who are both down. I think they loss to Elida who is very weak.

id tend to agree but ive watched them in their games and they are a solid team. they will win a couple playoff games but they wont go real deep. honestly st henry should have beat them with all of their TO's but thats been st henry's season for ya. LCC is still young with a lot of good talent coming up. i was at the elida game. it was the first game of the year with a new coach and new kids in so they had their growing pains over an improving elida team. if they played again LCC would win now but its not really hurting LCC in any fashion right now anyways. the worst case scenario for them is if they end up getting paired up with versailles in the first round which IMO they are the 2 best teams in that region but i think versailles would win although it would prolly be closer than most would think.

DI - I'm going to go with Glenville, but it'll be close. To me, it's a toss up between Glenville's natural athleticism and St. X's rugged schedule in the GCL. Don't forget about Massillon and McKinley in Region 2 either....

DII - Avon Lake. They've been there and done that. Sure Tallmadge and Louisville might be turning some heads, but I'm going to bet on the experience factor for the Shoremen (sp?)

DIII - Steubenville. Along the same lines as Cavball's prediction, I do believe that this is the year for the Big Red.

DIV - Coldwater. Maybe Nate Davis and Bellaire could give them fits, but I just don't see it.

DV - The MAC fans would probably love to fill the last three divisions with their teams, and rightfully so. But this division (and sometimes III) always gives me fits. Patrick Henry and Liberty-Benton have great teams again, but I'm going to have to go with Versailles. Add to that......

DVI - DSJ. I watched them play at Bellevue in the season opener and absolutely dominate. Great speed and the team has been taught how to play fundamentally sound football. Maybe Hardin Northern or Liberty Center can play them tough for 4 quarters, but I gotta go with the Jays

Clue me in, Glenville gets by Iggy's, St. Eds and the Canton/Massillon teams? We don't get anything about them down here in cloistered Cincinnati. As for our region, looks like St. X, Colerain and Centerville as the best choices to get out. I like X (I hate X) because they have so many ways to beat you. I like Colraine because of thier speed and talent, but if they're down by two scores in the third they're screwed. They take way too long to do anything.

Centerville will fold at the first sign of competition... They just don't play anyone that is that tough during the regular season.

My State Picks:

DI: Colerain. I think the champs will be too much for Glenville in the end.
DII: Avon Lake
DIII: I don't know much about
DIV: Coldwater. But not without a helluva fight from Cardinal Mooney in the Championship.
DV: Versailles. Too big and too tough of a regular season to be knocked off. playing down a division from their runner-up finish last year.
DVI: Delphos St. John's. Saw them against Versailles, and they were a very good team. Once again the tests they get during the season will push them to a championship.
