Maybe this decommit is both sides going a bit cold?

Is Day rethinking his Pro-style Pocket-passer QB preference given the type of offense OSU seems to be wanting to field?

Is Day thinking that it makes no sense to try and run a finesse offense with a QB that is not very mobile?

And the fact that another QB was recruited by Coach Day mattered as well, we're hearing.

This seems like a lot of willful ignorance. The fanbase knows exactly why the uncle of the #1 player of a recruiting class was retained....and the fanbase knows the recruiting of a QB by Ohio State in 2023 was BECAUSE of Raiola leaving.

No. Day lost a recruit to the team his dad played for and his uncle coaches at. This isn't rocket surgery.

It's too early to know what this decommit means. Does it boil down to Ruhle being hired by Nebraska, or if he does choose a USC or other elite school, does it mean he just wasn't feeling OSU anymore? Where and when he commits will fill in the blank.

Kids do decommit. It happens, and will happen again. Every year to every program.

This one stings, because it screwed up this season's recruiting of a QB and possibly next year as well. Also, if the kid is the next coming, it would be great to have him, and it's bad to have to face him.

One thing, Day does seem to find somebody to play QB when needed.

I think our biggest concern is being a more balanced team overall, and not just at QB and WR.

Do hope he goes to Nebraska, as that team needs a life injection of talent, or maybe trot back to B12. Having said that, have no clue what went on behind the Woody's closed doors, but (it seems) that this decommit took everyone (?) by surprise. Certainly all of us readers. As recruiting is a chess game, see that one of the two QB backups are destined for the portal after next year's spring game, so tOSU would be thin at QB anyway, so a freshman replacement was needed. Can also be said that the NIL makes recruiting those five *s at QB is becoming more expensive. Anyway, Buckeyes, please focus on taking apart this vaunted Georgia team. Develop a scheme to match our strengths against their weaknesses (CJ, hit those great receivers downfield), just like 12 Guage did against Bama in '14. Go Bucks!

I was listening to a podcast, which stated that the staff wasn't completely shocked and surprised. I think they kind of had some indications there were issues brewing.

Sounds like the family may be drama.

If this kid wants to choose Rhule over Day, then good luck! Rhule was very overrated at Baylor, and his only known QB was Charlie Brewer, and the only bowl win he had, was against Mighty... Vanderbilt(by 7pts). If his family sees more in Matt Rhule's offenses, than Ryan Day's, than IDK what to tell anyone. Rhule takes at least 3-4yrs to get his team going, and then he usually leaves, so Raiola is set for 1-2yrs of average to bad offensive play before hopefully seeing any success. And that's still having to battle Wisky, Iowa, Minny, and even Illinois for the B1G west.

I think you are underestimating Ruhle.

I don’t think anyone would say his style is QB friendly but the job he did at Temple and Baylor was legendary.

He took two historically awful train wrecks and turned them around.

If the point was it’s an odd choice for an elite QB then I may agree with you.
