Duke Blue Devils (that rat faced scumbag)

Because they were more aggressive driving the ball to the hoop and drawing fouls? :roll2:

I got news for you, when a team drives more, they draw more fouls... Duke's perimeter game was off tonight so they started driving more and getting to the line...
People who think refs get together before games to plot out how they're going to screw Duke's opponents are kidding themselves. On that same line of thinking....people who think that duke goes to the line because they're "more aggressive" are kidding themselves.

I'm not talking about Duke getting to the line....I'm not talking about GT NOT getting to the line. I saw plenty of instances last night where a whistle should have been blown and it wasn't. Even the damn ESPN announcers were talking about it!

The refs didn't blow the whistle for a ton of contact both ways last night... They were letting guys on both teams get manhandled and run over... But thanks to "I went to Maryland" Len Elmore, you only heard the announcers complain about Duke getting all the calls...

In most cases you are correct, but last night Duke was very aggressive and took the ball to the hoop a lot, which is why they went to the line LAST NIGHT... Nelson, Henderson, and Singler accounted for 23 of Duke's 30 attempts, and they were all (and are usually) very active around or going to the hoop... Duke only shot 15 3's last night (1/2 what they normally do) because they were off, so the guys were putting the ball on the floor and driving much more...

UNC-Duke is always a terrific matchup; the tone of this year's game will be affected by the recent murder of the UNC student-body prez (evidently a random act of violence). Still, it will be fun to see if the SI cover jinx affects Tyler Hansbrough as he strives to beat the Blue Devils.

Bring it on!

it's really quite comical how the same pressure defense used by Clemson against BC last night is racking up fouls in the backcourt on Duke.

I've already seen several ticky-tack fouls on Clemson that weren't called last night.

Clemson has a helluva press by the way. The make you work for every inch of the court. I guess they played it perfect last night without fouling, and today it's a little too aggressive....

The best part of this game.....

Paulus tries to draw a foul on Clemson (this was in the first half) by flopping and faking a knee injury. He essentially laid on the floor the entire possession, allowing Clemson a 5 on 4 opportunity to score, which they did.

Then after the play is over, they blow the whistle to see if he is ok and sure as hell he didn't need any attention. Absolutely pitiful acting too

Dookie V is probably in tears knowing it won't be Carolina versus Duke tomorrow. Now if Clemson can beat Carolina and Duke on the same weekend the Tigers will become my new favorite team.

But for the disparity in free throws, Belmont would be leading Duke at halftime of their first round tourney game. As it is, Duke leads by 7, 42-35.

Free throws in the 1st half: Belmont 2 for 4, Duke 11 for 15.

I can't watch the game, but this is one of the cases where a free throw disparity would make sense. I doubt Belmont is aggressively attacking the rim. I would imagine Duke is.

Could be wrong though.
