Duke Blue Devils (that rat faced scumbag)

I didn't watch the game for a reason. A middling ACC team never has the opportunity to knock off Duke because the refs will make enough calls to prevent it.

It hasn't been officiated that horribly to be honest. The intentional foul call was HORRENDOUS though. Washington of VT got an offensive board, went up with it, and got the ball caught on Kyle Singler's chest. No call, and there shouldn't have been a call, but the fans go nuts because the whistle wasn't blown.

Washington turns to run down court after making a motion at the official and gets his feet tangled with Singler. Singler hits the deck because his feet were tripped up, and they hit Washington with an intentional foul.

Just awful.

True that sounds awful....

What I meant is if the game is anything like close the refs will close it out for Dook against a team the caliber of VT. Always have, always will.....

This game doesn't appear to be that close so they've called it more "normally"

I love conspiracy theories :sneaky:

You guys are flat obsessed...

Watch any basketball game in the country and you can pick out calls like that... Just so happens Duke games are on a lot, so I guess that's why everyone gets so much on them...

How about giving Duke credit for playing another stellar game this year? There's really only been one game that they've won that was in doubt in the final 3+ minutes of the game., and in that one, after the Singler 3 against FSU, it went on to be a double-digit win...

Dook Sucks...

j/k...I am with ya on the charge calls, they need a little arc like the nba or they will never get it right...It will also eliminate a lot of times when guys try and take charges which would only be better for the game...

I hate it when guys are under the hole and they get a charge call or guys slide under them when they are in the air...

Your feet must be set before the guy takes off...

Don't let Washington get a reprieve for his actions last night...

1) He tried to bait our guys into altercations by trying walk into or through our players/huddles after whistles. He was throwing shoulders all game after dead balls.

2) He got an intentional foul by tripping Singler behind the play. I agree I don't think the foul was intentional though. He drove in and flopped and didn't get the call. He gets pissed, screams, and throws his arms out at the ref. His foot catches Singler's, and the ref calls an intentional, probably b/c he was just tired of Washington's b/s and the trip, whether intentional or not, only happened b/c of Washington's temper tantrum.

3) He intentionally undercut Nelson after Nelson had been fouled by another Hokie.

4) He was involved in very late, brief altercation with Nelson, resulting in Nelson fouling out with a Technical (DeMarcus should have known better than to be baited though).

That's the Duke specialty right there. Name a better team at sliding directly under the hoop to take a charge as the player is finishing the play and already coming down?

Plus, there reputation for taking charges gives them a lot of calls when they aren't in position. I don't think anyone can argue that. Watch any of their games and they get BS charges all the time.

But yes, they are a very good team, and I can't think of many guys I'd rather have than Gerald Henderson.

My and CBF40's point is that you can watch any game in the country and see that called now... It's just not called right anywhere, no matter what your conspiracy theories are...

If you watched the FSU v Duke game, how can you say Duke doesn't get calls based on their reputation?

It was ridiculous.

So no one ever gets calls in the NCAA? Come on...

I watched it... And there were a couple of questionable calls (both ways mind you), but nothing out of the ordinary for basketball games...

We can fool ourselves into seeing things that we want so much to believe are true...

I saw the replay of the Duke game this morning....and you're just flat out wrong bill. That kid tried to trip the Duke kid on purpose, and he tried to hurt Duke players the whole night. If that's not an intentional foul, I don't know what is.

Here's the thing with fouls... Especially this year...

Teams always try to play very physical against Duke... Just something they've done in the 20 years I've been following basketball... When a team is going to play an intense, physical game against someone, they are going to be more susceptible to foul calls (across the board... I've seen this with Xavier and other teams for years throughout basketball)... It's just the perception of the refs that when a team is playing that emotional and physical, they will make more fouls... That, more than anything, is what "gets Duke more calls"... Not their reputation...

I think his trip was unintentional 27 (but if you, of all people would stick up for Duke, it might be more obvious than I first witnessed )... I do think it was a result of his temper tantrum though... But you're right that he was trying to elbow and undercut all night... I posted that above... Bill must've missed it...

Theres a difference between getting calls in a single game, and just consistently getting calls.

I will never forget for the rest of my life, a Duke player flopping on a pull up 15 foot jump shot and the official awarding the player a charge. Only Duke gets that call because officials have it implanted into their brains that Duke knows how to take a charge.

I don't think it's a conspiracy in a sense that the ACC wants officials to go out and steal wins for Duke. I think officials subconsciously call favorable games for Duke though.

Let's not forget 2 years ago, in one of the worst officiated games of all time, a referee was suspended after calling FSU v Duke.

I wish I could locate video fo some of this stuff, but no luck. Only Paulus flops and acting come up.

Do you realize how ridiculous all of this sounds? Come on...

I'll give you the FSU game a couple of years ago... That was a horribly officiated game all around...
