Duck Hunters..........

NorthShore...thought I'd give you an update.

Texas limits this year..Daily bag of 6 birds not to include more than...
one mottled duck
two wood ducks
two redheads
two scaup
five mallards(2 hens max)
one pintail(during special season)
one canvasback(during special season)

Opening day, Nov 5th-- Two hunters--5 bluewing teal, 3 widgeon, 4 grey ducks(gadwall). Saw lots of pintails

Nov 10th--two hunters--3 grey ducks, 5 bluewing teal, 4 greenwing teal

The hurricane didn't seem to hurt anything. My friend in Groves is having a really good season so far, too. I think the extra fresh water allowed some veg to grow in areas that are usually void of food.If you get down this way, pm me & I'll do my best to work out a hunt day that I don't have to guide one already.

Texasize

Season started Nov 12 here with same limits. I have read it has been good, many guys are fishing after getting their limit early. Muzzleloader for deer started here at the same time. Still warm with no rain and the deer hunting is not as good.

I just got back from Hershey PA, they had some nice weather :) , and am on my way to Vegas. I stop traveling the week of Thanksgiving and then I am on my way to Ohio. So if you Ohioans see a LA truck between Columbus and Cincinatti wave hi!

I appreciate the offer. I may take you up on the offer schedule permitting.
Good Hunting.

Deer season starts here tomorrow and it is very quiet because so many people take the week off. The weather has been very warm, but is supposed to start getting cold tomorrow. I'm not a deer hunter, but anything that reduces the number of deer that are available to run in front of my car is okay by me.

Looks good my friend.
My hunting was limited to my trip to Ohio this year.
I should be able to get out for spring Turkey in March. Maybe call in a few Yotes the next few months.

The DU banquet is tonight but I just got home from San Antonio and will miss it. I may be looking you up next year.

Sherburne WMA offers youth hunters a great opportunity to get a jump on the duck season.

My son and I are getting ready for his guided youth hunt Tuesday, since he won the lottery, and we will be meeting the Wildlife and Fisheries biologist about 4:00 a.m. A nice front came through tonight, and it looks to be about 28-29 degrees & (hopefully) partly cloudy Tuesday morning. Wind blowing a bit, so wind chill about 23. The boy looks to have outgrown his old thermals, so I will get some tomorrow to go under his new chest waders (Santa came - yay!)

He'll be using 3" Remington Wingmaster HD #4s in his new (slightly used) 20 gauge Mossberg 500 SuperBantum. This will be new to him and sorta to me (last time I went duck hunting I shot lead, so....), and we hope to have a ball. I will try to get some pictures to post if we get lucky. Only he gets to shoot. I get to drink coffee and keep telling him to follow thru with his lead - he tends to stop right before he fires. Anyway, big fun on the Atchafalaya with the Ubets. :banger:

Gotta love Youtube. Lil Ubet has to figure out (me too) how to dress his teal (1 green wing and two blue wing) and geese (2 speckled geese) shot this morning. I was happy to see his 20 gauge take down a goose or two using #4s. :banger:

I forgot my camera in the truck when they dumped us out to place decoys :smash:, so I am waiting for my blind mate to send his iphone pics to share with you guys.

Had a great day with the youngest son.

Couple pics of the day
Sounds like an awesome day. I have to contend with lots of duckhunters down here in Hogtown when I'm out sampling on the lakes. Quite entertaining.

Personally, I'm thinking of getting a crossbow soon to do some deer and whatnot. Personally, I love getting outdoors whenever possible, but duckhunting has never really intrigued me all that much. What's your take on it Ubet? You prefer it? Or would you rather be going after the four-legged types in a stand?
