Well first I meant in the Dantonio Era.

Second off.. I was born in 1991 :slappy:

Thank goodness...I thought I was the youngest poster on BP...and was ready for the barrage of kid jokes. Now that I no longer have to heed those I would like to offer you:

WAAH WAAH want me to change your diaper you BABY?

All jokes aside goodonya for being that young and still having some semblance of sanity.

Where as RR is using more of a 1 gap defense where they are expecting the DTs to be quicker. For what is worth I guess. This poster is considered to be fairly knowledgeable.

Scout.com: Jonathan Hankins to OSU?
(about half way down the page on this thread)

This is true. UM will be using a 4-3 Under, which is somewhere between a 3-4 and 4-3. 1 gap, which is more of an attacking style defense, requires quicker/smaller defenders, instead of a two-gap, or read and react, type defense.

I think I have you all beat, 1992. I think Hankins would be a great addition to this class if we can get him.

In that scout thread a reference was made that a commitment from Hankins would signal the return of the space eater ala Pitcock and Anderson. Is it coincidence that those men anchored some of the best defenses at Ohio State this decade? I feel we are a better fit...Michigan wants him to be disruptive, OSU wants him to cause disruption by holding up the line and allowing our platoon of LBs to fly around a make plays. This would be an enourmous pickup for Ohio State, and a great compliment to the litany of roaming linebackers we've been bringing in. Imagine Dorian Bell roaming around unblocked due to having Hankins in the middle. Scary, I know.

Tim Anderson played at 280-285 pounds. How is that a space eater?

He actually played at 6'4", 305lbs

Anderson (6-4, 305, Sr.) says OSU?s defense wants to make even more of an impact than it did last year. That might sound difficult to accomplish, but one area it can improve on is scoring touchdowns on turnovers. Penn State fans might not agree, but it?s a fact.

That's pulled from a scout article. In anycase, being a space eater at noseguard doesn't necessarily mean playing at 350 lbs. It means being able to take on a center and a guard in running situations and not letting them get to the second level to block off linebackers. You can be a 285 space eater if you have the strength. You don't have to be Mount Cody's size to be a great 1 or 2 technique, space eating, defensive tackle.

BN$--Will Gholston's Decision Impact Hankins?

Johnathan says he is not interested in Michigan State even with Will Gholston committing. He has Virginia as his leader with tOSU and Wisconsin close behind.

This recruiting year has been strange. I havent even heard Virginia associated with Hankins before and now they are his leader. Almost as surprising as Jay Guy verbaling to California.

Look out! :yow1:

Early playing time is overrated, don't you just want to win? :wink2:
Anyways a guy with his size and ability, no reason he couldn't push for time at OSU early on. I think it seems like OSU is cooling off on him, I don't know though. I agree this is a very strange recruiting season. The AAA and UA game aren't going to have any declerations, that's bad for ratings :)
