DT Johnathan "Big Hank" Hankins (Seattle Seahawks)

In all fairness, comparing Will Campbell to him is just wrong. Will is and was on an entirely different level in terms of raw physical talent and football talent.

If Hankins went to both UM and MSU camps and didn't leave with an offer from either school that should tell you all you need to know about him IMO.

Especially if Dantonio wouldn't offer him, because Dantonio is a defensive minded guy, and you'd think he'd want as many good defensive players as he can get his hands on.
Yeah, because it's not like there are differences in defensive schemes or anything :/ .
I don't know much about Dantonio, but I do know that while at tOSU, unless I'm much mistaken, we never had a guy as big as Hankins.. We never had a big stuffer like him. We had DE/DT blends. Just because a lesser program doesn't offer someone, doesn't mean we shouldn't.

Or another more obvious example: RR didn't want Mallett, so clearly he's not good. Or if Nick Montana was a huge fan... Etc.

Think about players like Zebrie Sanders...Ohio State was far from offering, but out of state he received a bunch of interest.

right. zebrie sanders is doing well at FSU too.

and lee tilley is another example -- who doesn't appear on Auburn's roster anymore. he had offers from UF, Oklahoma, LSU, and Auburn among others, but not tOSU. 4* recruit

hopefully Haskins is a better example of the former. just saying, to me it is strange when the in-state schools don't offer a highly touted guy...always wonder if they know something that the out of state schools might not (re: character etc.) again not saying i think that is the situation here

Its really not rocket science. RR will be going to a 3-4 or 3-3-5 sooner than later. Hankins doesn't fit that mold.

Dantonio likes smaller DT's ala 2002 buckeyes.

Oklahoma loves massive DT's and OL. Tressel may be changing his philosophy or maybe it is Fickell...our future DC.

Could be when it comes to MSU, but I think we will offer at some point.

Some have said Dantonio doesn't like big DT's, we took Jeremiah, and he is struggling in the depth chart and has been moved to OL, so there is some truth to that statement when it comes to him.

um, who knows, they have offers out to hundreds of kids right now, not sure they can track who they offered at this point. Not to mention Haskins doesn't play WR.

never had a guy as big as hankins? you must have forgotten some kid who came to campus in 1991 as a 6-4 348 pounder...

Huh? How doesn't he fit the mold of a 3-4 DT?

I was thinking the same thing. From what one of the posters on scout was saying (coachbt), Hankins is a good fit for a 2 gap defense like OSU uses, i.e. a space filler. Where as RR is using more of a 1 gap defense where they are expecting the DTs to be quicker. For what is worth I guess. This poster is considered to be fairly knowledgeable.

Scout.com: Jonathan Hankins to OSU?

Big Daddy Wilkinson , who had to spend his freshman year getting his weight down and grades up. He was such a force it was funny watching him. Still I'll never forget what he did to that BG FB. He hit him so hard in the backfield that he flew up in the air backwards. No sound in the stadium until he was ok then, everyone went nuts like it was a winning TD. The times I was around him he was so dang nice, we all use to tease him that he was too soft to be a :osu: football player but, we kept good distance. lol
