DT Haskell (The Rascal) Garrett (All B1G, 1st Team All-American)

STOCK UP/DOWN: OHIO STATE'S RECEIVER DUO, QUARTERBACK SNEAKS WORKING, TWO-HEADED RUNNING BACK ROTATION

STOCK UP

HASKELL GARRETT

This story hasn’t received enough play nationally. Maybe it’ll come in due time.

Either way, we can’t possibly go through this week’s stock report without mentioning it. Haskell Garrett got shot in the face while trying to break up an argument, suffering a through-and-through wound in his right cheek in late August, and didn’t miss a game despite the football season starting less than two months later. And not only was he back on the field this weekend, but he recorded his team's first sack of the season and earned honors as Ohio State’s Defensive Player of the Game.

Kerry Coombs said it best: It’s a miracle.

Just sayin': After all the surgeries are done, if Garrett pretty much ends up 100% physically with just missing 5 teeth; he is really lucky after being shot in the face. Heck, probably half of the NHL are missing multiple teeth.

Here's my play of the game:

WATCH HASKELL GARRETT PULL OFF A GLORIOUS BIG MAN PICK SIX AGAINST MICHIGAN STATE

Haskell Garrett got a paw on the ball and pulled it down.

Deep in Michigan State territory, Garrett stepped up to make sure the Buckeye defense finished the half with more points than Michigan State's offense, batting a ball in the air and pulling it down for a glorious pick-six.

With that interception and touchdown, Garrett outscored Michigan State in the first half all by himself.

Easily play of the game, unreal what a season Haskell is having. So happy for him and he has to be one of the best stories in all of sports this year. Garrett and Togiai have been so strong in the middle, honestly it's turning into maybe the best duo I've seen in my time as a fan. Other than an occasional meaningless 3rd and long run, they have absolutely shut down the run game.

GARRETT SNARES IT
Defensive tackle Haskell Garrett was shot in the damn face less than 100 days ago, had a series of surgeries, ate through a straw for a spell and the dude has been nothing short of spectacular in every game this season.

Yesterday was more of the same as Garrett posted three tackles on plays netting two a total of two yards and came up with a ridiculous pick six putting Ohio State in front 28-0 late in the second quarter.

On 3rd-and-9 from the Michigan State 2 yard line, Garrett jumped and deflected a Lombardi throw straight up into the air before jumping to snag the ball in the end zone for an Ohio State touchdown.

The athletic, timely play was just the latest contribution from a guy teaming with Tommy Togiai to give the Buckeyes an elite interior defensive line.

The duo has 5.5 of Ohio State's 27 tackles for loss so far this season and has done its fair share in helping the Buckeyes hold opposing ball carriers to a 3.4 yards per carry average.

SNUB! The good news is, Haskell Garrett seems to be taking the news of his All-Big Ten snub better than I am.

Because I have actually watched football this year, I am aware that Garrett has been one of the top defensive tackles in the entire country. But he's somehow third-team all-conference on the coaches team and didn't even crack the media team? Miss me with that.

The whole list proved to me that nobody voting watched a damn game this year, especially the media's list. I mean no disrespect to Zach Harrison, but there's just no way in hell he should be getting a second-team nod ahead of Jonathon Cooper and Haskell Garrett.

And if we're being real, Shaun Wade had no business winning the Big Ten Defensive Back of the Year Award when there are two other cornerbacks tied for the national lead with *five* interceptions on the season.

It's the clearest indication that they're voting purely on name recognition, which is complete trash for the kids who actually went out there and earned it, and that sucks.

This fall hasn't been a normal one for anybody in this country.

The coronavirus pandemic didn't stop 51 current and former Ohio State athletes from graduating from the university following the Autumn 2020 semester.

Former linebacker Ryan Shazier, point guard CJ Walker, center Josh Myers, former cornerback Jeff Okudah, defensive tackle Haskell Garrett, former offensive lineman Alex Boone, wing Musa Jallow and linebacker Tuf Borland were among those to earn degrees from their university during Sunday's virtual commencement ceremony.

For all of the well-deserved plaudits today that Mr. Sermon & Mr. Hilliard have received, it would be a shame to not recognize the third member of the BIG CCG Triumvirate. Outstanding performance once again.
