DT Dexter Larimore (official thread)

Watched Dexter wrestle today (one bye and one pin) and although he is very strong I was surprised that he was not bigger. He does not look to be much over 6 foot or so. The one match I saw he flat out dominated this kid.
He spent most of the day sitting around talking wih his teammates listening to music. Took about 6 pics but they turned out to dark even though I used a flash.

That means to me that he is proportionate. Good that he is not top or bottom heavy for balance.

3rd round- Dexter caught some kid in a cradle 30 seconds into the match and it was all over. 32 team tournament and your guy is in the semi-finals in the morning and should win easily which should set up a match between the top 2 heavyweights in Indiana.

Pinned the states number 2 ranked heavyweight in the first period to win the weight class title and also was named tourny MVP. WOW! A MAN AMONG BOYS..........

I will probably be seeing him at team state as well as individual state and will kep you all posted.

My son wrestled for Moeller. They have a good Jr HW kid named Frank "The Tank" Becker. 4th last year at State I think. (He is also a great D Lineman and was 1st Team Football DL Southern Ohio). Love to see those two face off.

Chief knows his wrestling, so the "man among boys" comment is high praise, indeed. My inferences: 1) the kid is a pinner--a finisher, goes for the kill, the knock-out blow--in other words, he's just plain mean and nasty; 2) first period pins means he also got the first take-down--aggressive, fearless, quick and talented, and must be good set-up man. All of these are the traits of an outstanding wrestler, but also an outstanding D-Lineman.

Thanks for the reports, Chief.

Cool responses and I thought that you guys might not get into wrestling !!
Dexter got the intitial takedown on every kid he faced and then flattened them and just turned them. Made it all look very easy.

I got curious and had to look and see who beat him last year as he was state runer-up. Chris Kasten beat Dexter but Chris was a 2 timer and an all -time Indiana great.

FYI Saw a few Russ Helickson OSU wrestling camp shirts the last 2 days. OSU has 2 Indiana wrestling legends on the team right now.

EDIT- Just read that Dexter won all 5 of his matches in a total of less than 6 minutes. Also when he was introduced before the finals they anounced his verbal commitment to play football at OSU.
