DT Cameron Heyward (6x Pro Bowl, 3x All Pro, Pittsburgh Steelers)

i loved how he had "Iron" and "Head" on his eyeblack during THE GAME.

as noted above by DaddyBigBucks among others, Long and Schilling looked like crap....and I remember the play where Long lost leverage so bad that whoever the DE was on that side was making Long's body bend backwards in a banana shape.

Heyward looked great Saturday. I wouldn't be surprised to see him on the pre-season all Big Ten team next year.

Unfortunately, if Vernon goes pro, then teams will be doubling Heyward all day.

At least no one is calling him Heywood anymore!

i thought the "Iron" "Head" eye patches were cool. I was really impressed with how good he turned out to be this year getting loads of playing time as a true freshman. Does anyone else remember any OSU D-Lineman who played this considerable amount as a true frosh ? But what makes him stick out in my mind is the numerous huge hits this guy laid out this year. I never expected him to play that much, but to end up starting towards the end of the year was remarkable, this guy is going to be a good one here.

Yes even if Vernon chooses to leave Heyward and Wilson will be a formidable duo coming off the edge. It's easy to forget about the injured players returning next year. The 08' run defense should be nasty with Terry and Homan coming back as well.

Ryan Pickett wound up starting DT his freshman season in 1998. I am having trouble locating more details than that, but he is probably the most recent DL up there with Heyward as far as impact as a true freshman. Unless I am missing one since Pick?

Man, I can't wait to see him in our bowl game. I have a feeling that Gholston will draw a double team, and a DT-sized Cameron Heyward will run through straight to the QB. That 280+ pound train with smack down JDB or Pat White.
