Robert E. Taft High School football player Adolphus Washington speaks during a Nov. 9 ceremony where he was named to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl football team.
The commitment of blue-chip defensive end prospect Adolphus Washington II to the Ohio State 2012 recruiting class this past week would seem to indicate the Buckeyes have gained yet another toehold in the Cincinnati area, a region which has been fickle for them through the years.
But as Washington?s father pointed out, his household has always been a bastion for all things Ohio State.
?I know I?ve always liked Ohio State, going back to Woody Hayes and the kind of ball they played back then,? Washington I said.
He was on hand when his son made his commitment public at Cincinnati?s Taft High School last Tuesday.
?In fact, we were going to bring one his baby pictures to show, because we?ve been dressing him in Ohio State stuff since he was little,? Washington I said. ?That?s all we ever watched in our house, was Ohio State.
?As I like to say, I think he chose Ohio State a long time before Ohio State ever knew anything about him.?
