Adolphus Washington's stature as one of the nation?s top high school athletes was evident in Florida during a prominent basketball tournament in mid-December.
While Taft was playing in the City of Palms Classic in Fort Myers, Washington, who has verbally committed to Ohio State for football, encountered plenty of fans who sought autographs and took pictures with the 6-foot-4, 260-pound standout.
Taft basketball coach Mark Mitchell recalls seeing a group of four children who came up to Washington and not only photos but advice about work ethic which they could apply to their future.
"He really embraced it," Mitchell said. "He was really inviting; he was really warm to the kids. It was good to see. He smiled about it and took it all in stride."
