They stopped running his way most of the game.
Washington, who played defensive end, admitted he was apprehensive heading into the week of practice before Saturday?s game.
?When I got down here I was kind of worried about how would I react to the other competition,? Washington said by phone after the game. ?From the first practice I knew I could compete and play with these guys.?
Washington had a quarterback sack and led a teammate to a sack on back-to-back plays in the second quarter.
?I got a lot more snaps than what I thought,? said Washington. ?I thought three plays and I would be out for a little bit and then rotate back in. It was real fun to come up with a couple of big plays.?

Taft senior DE Adolphus Washington (Ohio State commit) is ranked the nation?s No. 10 player in the Scout.com final 2012 class rankings today.
Taft senior wreaking havoc on court, too

KETTERING ? Adolphus Washington?s future is wreaking havoc ? on the field ? for Ohio State University?s football team.
But for now, the Cincinnati Taft senior man-child who could pass for Kimbo Slice?s not-so-little brother has other commitments to fulfill.
?This means a lot to me,? said Washington, among the nation?s most sought-after defensive linemen after scoring 30 points to lead Taft to a high-end 82-74 defeat of Akron SVSM in Sunday?s Flyin? to the Hoop at Fairmont?s Trent Arena.
?A long time ago, these guys took me in on their AAU team and I wasn?t very good. They gave me a shot and they gave me a chance to play. I felt like just because I?m going to Ohio State to play football I can?t just give up on them like that because they didn?t give up on me when I first started.?
That kind of commitment is why Taft will challenge for another state championship. Like many seniors, Washington could have left for OSU and new coach Urban Meyer early and skipped his senior year of hoops. No chance.
Instead, Washington is just now rounding into basketball shape. He and celebrated wide receiver and teammate Dwayne Stanford missed nearly two weeks by playing in the recent U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas.
Washington was just as devastating Sunday as he is on a football field. He displayed a soft-shooting touch by hitting 11 of 14 shots. And there?s no fouling him: He buried eight of 11 tosses.
And that wasn?t all. Seven of his nine rebounds were off Taft misses. In a word, he was relentless.
?Getting them back from that Army game was tough,? Taft coach Mike Mitchell said.
?They were in terrible shape. Of course, they had to feed (Washington) when he went down there. He ate good. He was a little out of shape, but he?s starting to get it back and feel comfortable on the court again. It?s good to have him back.?
http://ohiostate.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1319242Two weekside defensive ends got the bump - Adolphus Washington of Cincinnati (Ohio) Taft, an Ohio State commit, and Florida State commit Dante Fowler Jr. of St. Petersburg (Fla.) Lakewood. Washington, who recorded 25 sacks during a dominant senior season, also shined in San Antonio at the Army All-American Bowl.
"Washington had the single most dominant performance of anyone I covered this fall, and was close to earning his fifth star in our last rankings update," Midwest Analyst Josh Helmholdt said. "But the competition he played was pretty weak in that game, and we just wanted to make sure he could do it against D-I offensive tackles as well. Once he got adjusted to the difference in talent at the Army Bowl, Washington became a force off the edge and capped an impressive week with a 1.5-sack performance in the Army Bowl game."
