How is going out with friends and getting drunk a liability at all? Sheesh, nothing illegal is being done, as long as no one drives. It's not like teachers are expected to take a sacred vow preventing them from doing anything fun, for that matter you might as well say a teacher being seen renting an r-rated movie shouldn't be allowed to teach your children because they may like the nude-scene.

And comparing that to naked pics on myspace doesn't seem to be a fair crossroads at all. On one hand you have "look, here's me with friends hanging out and having some drinks" on the other you have "look, I really need to get laid, this is what the goods are." Meaning, one is a pic you take to show friends, I see nothing wrong with someone going out, hell I have a ton of pics from Vacation where I am drinking, partying and having fun, however, if kids come across pics of the teacher naked that has potential to show up at class.

Drinking, however, doesn't endanger anyone as long as it's done at their leisure and responsibly.

A version of this story from the tOSU campus, as an RA lost his position due to Facebook pictures of him at a party where underage drinking occurred. He is 20 and wasn't drinking in the pictures, but the party was at his parents' house.

Gabriel McDonald learned the power of the Web the hard way.

McDonald, a sophomore in engineering, lost his dorm room and his job because of photos of him uploaded onto Facebook.

Students such as McDonald often upload photos onto Facebook without thinking about the repercussions the images might have. Depending on privacy settings, anyone with an Ohio State webmail address can access OSU Facebook accounts - a network of 62,806 people and growing.

And there might be some guests on Facebook of whom students are unaware. Faculty, staff and University police all have the option to join Facebook, according to Cheryl Lyons, director of housing education for University Housing.

McDonald lost his position as a resident adviser after his friend posted pictures of him on Facebook. The pictures were taken at a New Year's Eve party McDonald hosted at his parents' house in Dublin during winter break.

Fun! Fun is the whole reason that it can not be tolerated. Don't you know that unless people rigidly conform to the puritanical standards of the most prude and priggish among us, they must ruthlessly be hounded, censored and criminalized.

Is she of age? Yes. Did she drive or commit any other offense while drinking? No. Did she show up for class drunk? No. Then she should be allowed to have fun and drink socially just like any other member of society. But that's really the rub. People like Jeffcat don't want anybody drinking and having fun. It's not enough for them to live their lives as they see fit, but they must enforce their own "church lady" vision of morality on everyone else, and they won't stop until all social drinking is criminalized.

Well... yeah... because if Teachers can't drink... then certainly role models such as... oh... I dunno... parents can't drink....or people with no Children who might also be servers in Restuarants that might bring children food and could possibly breathe on it funny when the order comes... or... Policeman... or Firefighters... or... Asian Massage therapists (what if her hand slips?)...

And... while we're at it... all the people who are booze pushers ought to be thrown in jail.



Apparently by continuing down this path I'm missing out on some good tail.... so.. I'll keep that in mind.

I agree. And on top of that, I don't think teachers should be allowed to have sex out of wedlock. Or be allowed to eat chocalate. Or go to Cedar Point or Buckeyes' games. We should ban them from even looking at a tv or for that matter, BuckeyePlanet. And forget about Sudoku.

Anything that can be perceived to be fun, we must not allow teachers to engage in. Or for that matter, anybody? Lawyers, Doctors, Auto Mechanics, etc... They should eat, sleep, and drink (milk) their professions.

marijuana is perceived to be fun, cocaine is perceived to be fun, what the BTK killer was perceived to be fun..........do you consider it fun when she shows up hungover to your child's class and loses supervision of that child and/or is at an inadequate state to teach?

All of the above are illegal, alcohol is not. Second, you are assuming that a person who drinks is an alcoholic and must come in hung over every day, which is a pretty far step. Trust me, people can go home, have a beer, go out on the weekends and party and still not come to work hungover.

By your logic that means that all teachers must be virgins because if not they must be sex addicts and may rape your children.
