No... he doesn't see that statement as irrelevant...

His point is that YOU are the one using the slippery slope argument. (Over and Over and Over and Over and Over and Over and Over)

i am providing examples from other arguments, not testing the slippery slope extremities of this one. i am not one of those that says "well if we do this then potentially the world could end". there would be no end and we could make up any BS we wanted to because it is yet to be proven. you solve this by being logical.

So go ahead and start being logical.

And getting drunk here or there doesn't mean you do it all of the time. Most are responsible enough to not get drunk if they work early the next moring.

And having a beer or two does not even mean you are drunk.

Hell we don't even know for sure what she was drinking in the picture. It couls have been fruit punch forall we know.

maybe but when you see somebody drinking with a glossy face and a pictured captioned "drunken pirate", there is a pretty solid conclusion to be formed. its a liability because she COULD get drunk and show up to work early. it has the potential to hurt the school of choice's name and children being taught. no different than NFL teams giving suspensions or fines for off the field conduct issues. if this university feels they have a platform to base it off of then so be it.

So you are assuming she is drunk.

NFL players are allowed to drink, they are not allowed to drink and drive, know why? It's illegal. And even if she was caught doing that, which she wasn't, it is still unreasonable to force her to change her degeree.

extreme measures must be met to fit criteria of the argument of what is "fun". my views are in no way irrational. if you think so feel free to prove otherwise.

Fun and legal vs. Fun and illegal. That's the distinction.

Or I could just say: Young Woman drinking beer in a pirate hat vs. Psycho killing people. There just might be a distinction there worth mentioning.

Your problem is that you can't see the distinction between someone who drinks and someone who drinks irresponsibly. You think it's the same person, because apparently you think anyone that drinks is irresponsible. And then you wonder why most of this board (who probably also drink) take offense and call your argument short-sighted.

the same civil liberty that causes deaths by drunk drivers or cirrhosis? it is pretty understandable to look at alcohol as a frequently abused "liberty". i am pretty sure the troops in iraq are not fighting so you can sip a couple brews.

I'm also pretty sure there are quite a few of them that would like to know that when they come home, they can relax with a brewskey.

Exactly. Much of the world drinks daily in a responsible manner, starting at a young age. Jesus fits this description. He taught that drunkenness is a sin, not consuming alcohol, as he did regularly.

ahhhh yes this is better. this is more arguable here. the NFL players example was made to illustrate how off the field or out of the classroom activity is dealt with by their respective administrations not the legality of the manner. now the argument against them changing her degree is rather arguable. you could take one stance saying that they could change it because it doesn't impose the lives of students(which i disagree upon), or you could say that could deny her any degree altogether. the other option is alternate methods of punishment which is hard to say there.
