11W - THE HURRY UP: RIVALS' WEEKEND IN COLUMBUS BRINGS KEY VISITORS TO OHIO STATE, KELLEN MOND TAKING SPRING GAME TRIP

DONOVAN PEOPLES-JONES, CASS TECH GROUP AT OHIO STATE

There was a major recruiting camp in Columbus yesterday and it paid some dividends for Ohio State.

The Rivals Camp Series stopped just miles from the Buckeyes' campus yesterday morning and upon its completion, a handful of Ohio State targets in 2017 and 2018 and beyond made a visit to see Urban Meyer's program. Of all the visits, none were more "important" from a recruiting standpoint than the one made by Detroit Cass Tech five-star wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones, who showed up with a handful of his younger Technician teammates.

Contd.....

247 $ - Top-ranked WR talks latest Ohio State visit

Donovan enjoyed his visit to tOSU alongside his mother & got to speak with Coaches Meyer, Coombs & Smith. He's impressed by Coach Meyer's track record & knows that he can develop into an NFL-caliber player at Ohio State. Returning this weekend for the spring game.

Absolutely huge to have him back on campus consecutive weekends. Still a ways to go to catch up but this is a guy you go all out for regardless.

I didn't see this mentioned before, but while listening to the BM5 on bucknuts just now, Wiltfong said DPJ wants to be a surgeon and that his dad went to scUM Medical School. Between what was said on that show and previous articles, I assume that his top 3 are scUM, Stanford, and Ohio State.

That would be one difficult load. A former player of mine is at Northeastern playing basketball and he wants engineering. That first semester kicked his butt academically with all the work required of a D1 athlete for athletics.

But there are people who are able to pull it off. For example Krenzel was a Molecular Genetics major, a pretty difficult syllabus in its own right.

I thought he dropped that major and switched to History, or something.

It can, of course, be done (e.g., John Frank and Chad Cacchio went to Med and Dental schools, respectively, after they graduated). It just takes a special kid to be able to pull it all off.

As @ant80 said, he will no longer be attending the spring game this weekend. Cass Tech HC Thomas Wilcher will be speaking at event in South Bend this weekend & he's bringing the contingent with him for their spring game.
