Donald Sterling and his comments

It's not about whether it still happens. It happened. And not so long ago that there aren't people who still remember.
No, it is indeed about whether it still happens or not. No one is disputing the point that the history of our country has a serious ugly portion...no one. The point is for how long are whites as a general group going to be demonized for what a group of them did multiple generations ago? JFC, even the Worst Lady said within the last few days that segregation in our schools is still as bad today as it was during MLK's days. She's giving Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton a real run for their money...

Sad to see that it will be a unanimous decision to vote Sterling out by the NBA owners simply because they all fear being called a racist if they don't. Now I could be wrong and they could all really feel he deserves it, but we won't ever truly know.

why is it sad? he agreed to join their fruity little club and now that club is going to kick him out. If he doesn't want to accept the rules of said fruity little club, he never should have signed on. No reason to be sad about it.

One thing that's sad is that same "fruity little club" knew about his antics and social views for years and years and did jack fucking shit about it. Same with the "Negroes Accepting Any Caucasian Patronage". Now everyone wants to be the holier-than-thou, sanctimonious, chest-thumping false-faced individual person/group who suddenly is now brave enough to hide behind the media frenzy to tear this guy down.

I don't disagree. Sterling has been scum since forever. I said it nearly 3 weeks ago now - the NBA owners aren't anything like right in this little scenario no matter what they did. they've known who and what Sterling is and have for decades. It's just that now it's out in the public for everyone to see so they are feeling like its a requirement to act - or something.

So the argument is "discrimination doesn't still happen, except against whites" . That's fun and a very unexpected argument.

Leave it to you to twist words to meet your own stance. My comment was in reply to OH10's comment that it doesn't matter that discrimation isn't near what it was only a few generations ago and it only matters that it happened, and that whites who had absolutely zero to do with said discrimation are lumped in with those who did.

You're suggesting white people are discriminated against in restaurants?

I guess we eat in different places.

Then again, none of the places I frequent has Spam at the top of the menu.
You need serious work on reading comprehension. My comment was in reply to OH10's statement "I assure you that you can still get married and find a place to eat without being discriminated against." Any place now that even hints at racial discrimination gets sues into oblivion (see Denny's). But, feel free to continue to think that this country is still like the South in the '50s and '60s...

I don't need any help with my comprehension, but thanks for the offer. You appear to need some help with basic composition, as your post suggested that white heterosexuals (a cohort you invariably take pains to point out you are a member of) might fear discrimination.

I've never thought our nation resembles the South of the 1950s, and have never suggested such a thing, so clearly your own comprehension is a bit lacking. Maybe all that Spam has affected the firing of your neurons.
