Donald Sterling and his comments

I would think that for merely "being gay" that would fall under Federal anti-discrimination laws, so probably not. However, if they publicly promoted a rabidly pro-gay agenda (and threw in some of those "PIV sex is always rape" comments from the crazy feminist blogs for good measure), and sponsors pulled out and there was tangible evidence of losing a great deal of money and positive publicity...then yes, I think they could then.

I hate you simply for introducing me to the concept of "PIV sex is always rape" I had to google that shit.. now ive read too many whackjobs for one week. thanks a lot bucklion.

 Did you like that? I saw that the first time, I can't remember where, I think Twitter, and then saw the reaction from both males and females. Hilarity ensued, more or less.

This guy should have had his franchise taken away years ago.

3) Donald Sterling is a powerful man. The fact that he's a blatant racist makes him a dangerous man because he has so much control over the lives of others whom he employs or provides services. That could be a main reason why people might care so much. If he were some John Doe on Main Street in Everytown, USA, no one would care. And there are plenty of such John Does.

Here's the thing. He should not have his franchise taken away. Should he be santioned by the NBA until he gives it up? Probably, and they probably should have done it years ago. No argument from me, but there's a clear distinction to me in the difference.

As to point #3. Its a two way street between Donald Sterling and John Doe. Sterling is indeed more dangerous because of who he is, on the other hand, he has a lot more at stake than John Doe in Everytown USA, as such he has more (or wealthy people in general) to lose than say... I do. So, it tends to work out.

2) White people always get into a fit when another white person is called out as a racist. Yes, we know there are black racists in the world. Yes, we know there is a double standard. If you don't understand why there is a double standard, you need a history lesson.
History in no way justifies a double standard. And few "white people get into a fit" when another white person is called out as a racist. What pisses a lot of white folks off is the degree in which some (not all) "racist" conduct gets villified, and the fact that "minorities" can get away with racist conduct/speech that would reem a white person. No one is whining about Snoop Dogg calling Stirling an inbred redneck.

No, the main reason people "care so much" is because he is a rich white male, not that he may have power or influence over others...he seems to have been paying his players pretty good wages. No one is envious of John Doe, be he white, black or whatever...

The layers of irony in this whole thing are just delicious.

Jewish guy who fears discrimination changes his name to be more WASPish so he can discriminate against those who can’t change their skin color to avoid discrimination....

Half black, half Mexican (two of the races he discriminated against) mistress baits him into saying what he really feels….and it sure didn’t seem to take much persuasion.

Local NAACP gives him not one but two awards (in exchange for cash). C’mon guys, once upon a time you were at the vanguard of the civil rights movement. Now you’re extorting cash from bigots to help make them look less bigoted.

He was one of the biggest advertisers with the LA Times (otherwise per chance an expose into his misdeeds may have come forth earlier?)

The property rights right comes out of the woodwork to defend him. Even though this has nothing to do with property rights. Indeed, if he wasn’t Jewish I’m sure the state militias that mobilized to defend the rights of a Nevada welfare rancher would be laying siege to the Staples Center as we speak. Then again, maybe not (the LAPD is much better trained and equipped than a rag tag group of BLM rangers and highway patrol. And probably more prone to shoot.).

So, have we heard from the “stars” of Duck Dynasty, the Kardashians or the NRA yet? Pins and needles man. Pins and needles.

So? He still said it and is being held accountable for it. Admissibility doesn't matter in the court of public opinion.

Is it really? Are you really worried that someone is going to secretly record your conversation and release it to the media? I think its pretty safe to say that the media doesn't really care what I have to say -- maybe when I buy my next pro sports franchise, I'll start being a bit more discrete with my off-color jokes. Crackah, please.

Being held accountable for it? He is being ransacked through the mud globally. He is having his.. HIS team forcefully taken away... basically by extortion. Public opinion should not make a business decision on something like this where he didn't even say one racist buzzword even. He didn't ban black ppl from attending games, didn't even ban her from hanging with black people, he simply asked her to stop flaunting it around on instagram and at his games. Had it been reversed and a black owner said the same about a white guy, I almost guarantee it would be swept under the rug. Larry Johnson says they should segregate from the whites and form an all black league and I haven't seen a single media outlet talk about that more than for 3 seconds. Guess racism is only offensive one way.

I don't care if someone records me... but it is still illegal. I'd be pretty outraged if someone baited me to an argument where I sad some means things out of anger, and then turn around and used that to tarnish my personal life and my job etc.

Not to mention what he said really wasn't even racist...

With the new numbers on the economy, the new shit coming out on Benghazi, Kerry's Israel apartheid comments, this has been a lovely diversion. This is preety much every left-leaning news network regarding this right now
