Eden Prairie High School's Willie Mobley and Ryan Grant are among five Minnesotans nominated to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Jan. 5, 2008 in San Antonio's Alamodome.

Nationwide, 400 players have been nominated. Eventually, the list of 400 will be trimmed to 80. Twenty-four of the players in last year's game were selected in the NFL draft, eight in the first round.

From the Wisconsin site...Kentucky has offered and Cal is trying to get involved. He will be at the NIKE camp in Boulder as a TE (to show off his athleticism...not because he projects there).

This says nothing about mobley so you can split it if ya like, but if they select the 80 "best" players in any given year, and only 24 of those players got drafted in a 7 round draft, that seems like a pretty terrible percentage.

By Allen Wallace...talks about being interested in West coast schools such as Arizona, Cal, USC and UCLA. Plenty of talk about Minnesota and Iowa.

Wallace loves talking up Iowa...see the latest Goebel and Mobley updates he's done.

I think you missed the point...that being that the article states 24 kids who played in a high school football all-star game last year have been selected in the NFL draft.

Well I wasn't blaming you rather I was pointing out the typical shoddy state of journalism these days.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled thread...

A Mobley/Goebbel tandem wouldn't look bad at all in a couple of years.

The three remaining top in-state recruits who haven't committed to the Gophers have spent or will spend time at Tim Brewster's summer football camp this week. Cretin-Derham Hall wide receiver Michael Floyd, a top-100 player according to some recruiting services, and his mother had an unofficial visit with Brewster on Tuesday. Floyd will spend a day at Brewster's camp later this week. ... Eden Prairie defensive end Willie Mobley has been around the camp all week, and he and his mother had an unofficial visit with Brewster on Wednesday. Cretin-Derham Hall tackle Joe Schafer is also expected to visit the camp this week. There were 430 students in grades 9-11 attending camp this past week.
