"I can't believe Joe Paterno would ever do anything wrong, because he won a lot of football games. Those 2 things have so much in common because I'm a god damn motherfucking mouth breathing redneck cumstain shithead penn state fan."

Re: Absolute possible worst case scenario is true

So you want to bury a thread because the truth may be unsavory?

Is that not what started all of this?

I don't know about you, but I want my alma mater to stand tall again. And that means smoking out all the cockroaches. All of them.

Fumble at the 3!!

1 person in all of them that has a clue.

If you ever doubted cognitive dissonance theory, this case certainly gives you all you need to know.

I still want to believe that Art Schlichter will get his act together and that MoC was just misunderstood.

If I had to accept a Sandusky type case against an Ohio State coach I'd have to be kept away from sharp objects and belts.

How bout this..If Joe knew in '98 so what???

http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=157&f=1395&t=9094432

Can I ask, what difference would it make?

Jerry was never ever charged for anything at that time. What can any person do in that kind of situation?

Isn't that answer, absolutely nothing?

I said a long time ago that Joe "heard" about Jerry. Now if Joe fires Jerry because of that, Joe's in big trouble. So Joe pushes retirement and uses the retirement package that's there as his reason because really, that's the most he can do to get Jerry to move on. Is it not?

So remember folks, if your made aware of sexual abuse, force retirement.

The stupidity on those boards is simply astounding. You would think it's trolls, effing with them....and there are a few of those. But, the actual average ped aggy poster is so out of touch with reality, it's impossible to tell who's who.

boy, did irondoc do an about-face in less than one day: post one and post two.

There is one explanation. The "about face" posts linked were posted by irondoc earlier in the day (5 AM and 10 AM). Since those posts were made he had a conversation with an investigator/close friend who revealed a number of things to him. The post relating to that conversation was not made until 10 PM and long after the "about face" posts.

It's posts like that one that highlights the stupidity of these mouth breathers. For starters, in 1998 Joe Paterno was not the doting, pants shiting, asleep at the wheel, coaching from the press box to pad the win total octogenarian that we all have burned into our memories from the recent past. Back then, he was just five years removed from having a dominant, undefeated team, PSU football hadn't inexplicably hit the skids as they would in the early 00s, and the idea of firing JVP, or at least forcing his retirement, was ridiculous.

JVP was still sharp as a tack and knew everything that was going on. If we are to believe the reports (which all appear to have been good enough for a jury), then JVP was alerted to issues with Sandusky sometime in 1998 or 1999, and Sandusky promptly retired. However, JVP apparently had no issues with the administration making Sandusky Coach Emeritus and providing him access to facilities and an office. For the next ten years Sandusky was taking kids into and out of the Lasch building, to practices, etc ...

To say Paterno (or even Tom Bradley or MMQ) did everything they could do is ridiculous. You'd think at some point somebody would see Sandusky around and say, "Hey Jer, you're still here? That's really surprising since I thought raping little boys was against school policy!"

The parallel would be you seeing a rape occur at your workplace, stopping it, reporting it, then going back to work every day for the next ten years with the rapist and pretending nothing happened.
