It had to be this way, Abenaki... see, a husband and a wife can't be charged with the same crime.Abenaki;2054787; said:I'm saying this as someone who only has the most basic and innate knowledge of law, but this is the way I see it:

Sandusky accuser, Second Mile charity settle legal dispute
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Lawyers for a young man described in a grand jury report as a victim of sexual abuse by former Penn State assistant coach Jerry Sandusky said Thursday they settled a legal action regarding a charity's assets.
Harrisburg attorneys Ben Andreozzi and Jeffrey Fritz said the settlement protected the claim their client plans to assert to the assets of The Second Mile, a nonprofit for at-risk children Sandusky founded in 1977.
"We intend to initiate a civil lawsuit seeking damages from the organizations and individuals responsible for the sexual assaults upon our clients," the lawyers said in a release. "However, our priority at this time is to support our clients, including Victim No. 4, who will be testifying against Mr. Sandusky at the preliminary hearing."
Sandusky, 67, has been charged with sexual abuse of eight boys over a 15-year period. His preliminary hearing on 40 criminal counts is scheduled for Dec. 13 at the Centre County Courthouse in Bellefonte.
Andreozzi and Fritz said that under terms of the settlement, The Second Mile has agreed to obtain court approval before transferring assets or closing and give their client the ability to weigh in before a judge regarding any distribution of assets.
The Second Mile released a statement calling the agreement a reiteration of its existing legal liabilities and saying it does not include a finding of liability.
The Second Mile said earlier this week that its donors should consider giving money to the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape, the latest sign that the charity may not be a going concern much longer. The Second Mile said its December programs would go on as scheduled, however.

What has to happen before their assets can be frozen, in order to prevent those folks from stashing their money overseas or wherever, in an attempt to avoid losing almost all of their assets? Does at least one civil suit need to be filed first, and then a motion to have their assets frozen?
SANDUSKY: I was sitting there saying, "What in the world is this question?" You know, if I say, no, I'm not attracted to boys, that's not the truth, because I'm attracted to young people, boys, girls..."
LAWYER [JUMPING IN FROM OFF CAMERA]: Yes, but not sexually. You're attracted because you enjoy spending time...
SANDUSKY: Right, I enjoy--that's what I was trying to say--I enjoy spending time with young people.

The Times reporter showed him Costas' interview with the question about attraction to boys and gave him an opportunity to clarify his response.

..No, no, he's not attracted to boys...he's attracted to boys AND girls...uh, that is, attracted to all children...uh, he really likes kids...enjoys kids...right, enjoys them. Thanks for clearing that up for us, Jer.
What is becoming almost more stunning to me than the "allegations" against him, is the question of how this guy who now presents as a dithering imbecile was ever in such positions of power to start with. Was he this stupid when he was coaching PUState all those years? Was he this stupid when he was organizing and promoting 2nd Mile? Forget noticing if he was a pedophile...didn't anyone notice he was a nincompoop?
Bucklion;2036668; said:You know what that shit sounded like to me? One of these North American MBLA types...meaning a guy not that is innocent, not that has a compulsion that he knows is wrong but does it anyway, but that is pissed he has to keep this shit quiet, because he thinks it's perfectly natural. Just listen to the matter-of-fact tone to the whole damn thing...it's like he's talking about doing shit with a sorority girl in college. I think he's dying to blurt out "I like young boys, what's the big deal?" followed by some rationalization bullshit, and is pissed he can't. Won Sik Fok.
Sandusky said his punishment was to no longer bring children to the college's football facilities.
"He didn't want me to bring kids in there and work them out anymore, and I remember saying well could I just work them out? And he said no."

BB73;2055877; said:I'm not suggesting that you were sticking up for PSU. Your previous post said that ESPN railroaded JoePa, and I was just stating that I don't believe that ESPN was responsible for his firing, or for providing any negative coverage of JoePa that he didn't deserve.
I thought their coverage of the night of the firing was somewhat comical, though. They were showing live coverage of what was happening that night, and they were calling it a "riot:, when not much happened other than 1 media van being toppled. It was almost like they hoping that there would be a lot more violence/property damage - which would help their ratings on the live broadcast and enable them to portray the Penn State community in a negative light. An they were happy to do so since it was a B1G school.

I am missing..well a whole lot of information..Wasn't this the biggest child abuse case in the history of child abuse. A cover up so large that espn held on to the tape for like 8 years? Wait no that's not it. it was the whole town of Happy Valley..A system so corrupt that it shook America to it's core. All under the All Knowing, All Seeing, Ruler of Happy Valleys' Nose? You have got to be kidding me.
Don't get me wrong if even one child is molested that's about three too many. But only 1 is said to have been molested to at the PSU facilty. Joe get's second hand watered down story and still takes it to the head of campus police but that's not good enough for espn? If it comes out that Joe knew more ok fine..but you fired a legend over the phone. I hope he sues the [Mark May] out of secpn.
FCollinsBuckeye;2058645; said:What the hell are you talking about?
ESPiN 'held onto' the Syracuse tape. Different child molestation scandal.
And I think the concensus is there are likely many more than 8 victims of Sandusky. There are simply 8 in the Grand Jury report.
Also, I think your chosen narrative that "ESPiN had it out for JoePa" won't gain much traction here. EVERYONE had it out for JoePa, and justifiably so based on the GJ report, imo.
HorseshoeFetish;2058655; said:Yes I get that espn syracuse is something different. Hey I've read the GJ report myself..McQueary is a scumbag..I need more proof at this point..That's just one of the many reasons great men and women of our armed forces have sacrificed themselves to defend.
