One conclusion that seems almost unavoidable from the grand jury report, is that everyone involved in the PSU football program for the past 15 years at least - coaches, assistants, trainers, players, everyone - had to have been suspicious of Sandusky. I know several have professed themselves "shocked" by this, and maybe they are, but I don't see how it's possible, given the way he apparently behaved in public for years. People at the flippin' high school he volunteered at were suspicious before any accusations were made - how could no one at Penn State have been?
I had a similar experience. I went back and read the whole thing. One really has to to grasp this, BB was right. It is awful.
I have used the word "surreal" before, many times. I don't think I ever knew what it really meant. I have witnessed awful things and frankly lived a crazy life, but I have never had that feeling of "this can't be real."
I don't tend to believe in conspiracies, though I see them all the time at work. But this, this was a system for abuse. I will not be surprised if more boys are found to have been abused, many more, or if they were but are never found. I won't be surprised if more men are found to be abusers. It is earthshatteringly bad.
