Diet-Fitness-General Wellness Your Thoughts?

When I get up I'll have a glass of grapefruit juice at 5:45 to get something in my system before I workout. I've been successful losing weight by eating a mix of peppers, onion, mushrooms, turkey sausage, an egg and egg white most mornings for breakfast.

Yeah, which is a much different story than he's telling. (I'm not saying you're right or he is, well, you said "turkey sausage" so you're "wrong" but its a separate conversation. )

So saying that we also eat turkey bacon will probably get me banned? Unfortunately I need to cut any corners that I can until I get where I want to be. After that I can go back to the real stuff. I'm trying to undo 30 some odd years of damage in 3-4 years.

Yeah, I'm right there with you. Maybe not the same kind of damage, but, yeah. I'm just trucking along at a pound a week (a bit more), need to change things up once in a while, right now I'm kind of on a constant body feed and its working well...

Wow, lots of responses. I do not try and fast at all, it just so happens that is the way my schedule works. I really do not eat many carbs, outside of alcohol and cereal. Like I said lunch is usually leftovers from the night before. Last night my wife made salad with chicken breasts. The night before was her version of "dirty rice". I don't know what tonight brings. I was taking greek yogurt to work for awhile in the summer, however I ended up going in our kitchen at work and mixing granola into the yogurt. That seemed like I was missing the point of taking yogurt. I tried taking oatmeal (http://www.betteroats.com/product/raw-pure-simple-bare/), but I lost interest pretty quick. I really blame my work, we have like 50 boxes of different cereal to choose from everyday. I may try the protein shake thing, I could easily grab that right before I jump in the shower in the morning.

I appreciate all the help.

The quinoa spaghetti isn't bad at all-has a nice flavor with tomato-based sauce. Less enthusiastic about the rotini types--tried it in a Greek Salad recipe I make and it didn't work too well.

The rice-based pastas are nice, too, if you're avoiding wheat. The ones I've bought were very light, nice mild taste--very good.

I see a concerning lack of inclusion of quinoa in diets listed here. Just tossing that observation out there...

A solid alternative to oats or wild rice on occasion.

I highly recommend the Stomach Ulcer diet (thank you, Ibuprofen). It's amazing how fast pounds drop off when eating dairy, butters and oils, red meat, anything with spices, starchy vegetables, caffeine, chocolate, or over 1000 calories a day leaves you keeling over in pain. Easiest New Year's resolution follow-through ever.

Really, though, now that I've figured out the right foods for feeling okay while it heals, there's a pretty good silver lining (not in my tummy, unfortunately). Pretty much all my bad habits have been broken by force. When I'm sure I can handle it, I'll keep doing what I'm doing now, and add back just a bit of the other stuff to reach a reasonable calorie level. Might as well keep on keepin' on.
