Sounds like season 1 starts tonight on CBS for anyone that wants to give it a chance. I'm tempted to watch it just to see what it looks like on regular TV. Most of the sex was in season 2 so they should only need to edit the language.

Nevermind, not the first episode so it must have been on for a few weeks already.

I watched the episode that aired last night on CBS and was disappointed. I had read the book, and thought it would make a great show. But last night was terrible. Unfortunately, it was a continuation of a previous storyline which made it harder I'm sure.

The characters were cliche, the dialogue was stilted and at some points I could hear William Shatner's voice in my head when the black cop was talking. I can be a nitpicker but it doesn't seem to me that a blood spatter specialist bothering to string up the spray would not also bring an evidence collection kit forcing the cop with him to collect blood spatter with a pocket knife. At least he took the whole tile, he didn't just scrape up the blood drop with the knife edge. *sigh*
I really liked "Six Feet Under" and it was hard for me to see one of those great actors fighting his way through sub-standard script writing.

I am hoping that it has something to do with it being transferred to a network that doesn't allow it's full potential, and revises or edits the episodes, as has been mentioned earlier in the thread.

So I gave this show another chance. I had a friend download season one in its entirety. I have watched through episode 8. It's good, fun watching, still cliche. I guessed who the Ice Truck Killer was and damnit, just hate that I was just proven right. I want better screenplays. I love Michael Hall. He's great. He is working really well with what he has been provided with.

Eh, it's fun watching. Just not a show that will "live in infamy" with me.

Are you watching the CBS version or the Showtime one? I haven't seen the CBS cut yet but I'd imagine it takes quite a bit of the flavor out of the original Showtime episodes.

Nah, the download was the Showtime season. I'm admittedly jaded, however, I read books about true crime and serial killers often. The "creep factor" is lost on me maybe, giving me too much time to judge the rest of the show.

I am, perhaps, judging too much by my own knowledge, trying to fit it a bit too much into a "cop show" instead of letting it just be a loosely crime-based drama. I remember thinking the same thing about the book way back when I first read it, that it was a little cliche' but fun. Tain't nothing really wrong with that, I just have to remember it is "escapist" fiction. :)
