Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson had not thrown a pass since he suffered a nerve injury to his right arm against Nebraska on Oct. 27, and that didn?t change against Ohio State. Robinson, an afterthought for most of the second half, said he was capable of throwing, but backup Devin Gardner threw all 20 passes yesterday.
?Coach calls the plays and we go with it,? Robinson said. ?We have to focus on just playing ball, just going with what Coach calls.?
Robinson played a more versatile role last week against Iowa, when he lined up at three positions and caught two passes for the first time in his career. Michigan coach Brady Hoke said using both quarterbacks in the fashion he did was not really predictable.
?It was just a little bit of a different package,? Hoke said.
Robinson rushed for 124 yards in the first half but was held to negative yardage in the second. He carried the ball in his left arm, from which it popped loose after a hit by Christian Bryant in the third quarter. Robinson played sparingly afterward but said he did not aggravate his injury.
Gardner passed for 171 yards, fumbled twice and threw an interception in the fourth quarter.
