Waiter. The Delivery driver is usually already getting a "delivery charge". I usually only tip them $1 or $2.

Not really. Most of the time the drivers never see that money, and regardless, its the customer's responsibility to tip accordingly (15% or more).

Don't be the one to get by thinking someone else will take care of it...

You definitely have to help the delivery guy out.

They use their own gas, put wear on their own cars, and have to deal with traffic and possible accidents.
...and often don't realize their car insurance is going to drop them or charge them double as soon as they find out they're in the delivery business, and possibly not cover delivery-related accidents in the meantime. After working for a car insurance company, I would never recommend anyone take a job delivering anything without a company car.

Back on topic - I don't usually get delivery, but it never hurts to tip a little extra and make someone happy.

Question: how many delivery drivers are only getting $5.41/hour from their employer?

Probably all of them, why?

I always tip my food delivery people. I do a flat 10-15%.

I tip my server the same, but they can get more (or less) depending on the quality of service. I have tipped as much as 30% to a server that impressed the hell out of me. I have also tipped as little as nothing to a server that was the worst I had ever seen and then tipped HERSELF on my credit card (which got her fired.)
