Decanonized Mythologized Disgraced Ped State Monster Coach Joe Paterno (Zombie Icon)

Maybe it's just me but I'm having a hard time seeing humor in this situation. It's a sad affair and the number of victims is still unknown. I don't know if this will ever be a joking matter.

I do not find humor in what happened to the abused kids.

I do find joy in the fact that justice is being served, better late than never.

I am amused that one of the dumbest fan bases in sports - who took plenty of glee in our problems - is being served and acting like assclowns in response to it.

I heard quite a few PSU fans today make light of the situation. Never thought I'd use the words "anal rape" at a business meeting, and certainly not as much as I did today.

The effort some people put into refusing to think about a situation lest they feel obligated to take a moral stand is pretty astounding. Call them out, folks. Deliberate ignorance IS a moral stance.

penn state's board of trustees fired paterno over the phone, which tells me how disappointed they are in him. paterno is a witness for the prosecution... but has hired a criminal defense attorney. interesting.

Is he possibly getting an early prep for the inevitable civil cases?

Thankfully I haven't seen anything like this occur, but I was taken by surprise when I saw some people weren't just upset that Joe Paterno was fired, they were infuriated. And these aren't Penn State fans, these are just regular people who seem to think that JoePa is the good ole ball coach that did every single thing he could and it's the media's fault for their terrible biased coverage that got him ousted.

Un. fucking. believable. :shake:

Not only is that not unusual in a case like this, not doing so would be stupid, IMO.

I simply become the voice for Victim 1. In 2005 he was 11 years old when Sandusky started his oral sex activities with Victim 1. While all the PSU fans are laughing, Victim 1 tells me he wants to know when he can start enjoying life. Victim 1 reminds me that Paterno had a great 84 years of living thus far while Sandusky has enjoyed 67 years of living. Victim 1 wants to know when he can start enjoying life. He is now 17 years old and life hasn't been fun at all. Victim 1 wants to know why Paterno didn't step up and stop Sandusky as late as 2002 when he had the opportunity to do so. So what say you PSU fans, when does the fun life start for Victim 1?

So I know it's been said before, but I just have to get this out because I've been debating this with someone for an hour now.

This person believes that Joe Paterno did everything he possibly could to report the situation and that people are going out of their way to sensationalize the part that JoePa played and sully his great great legacy. The person supports this claim by stating that Joe Paterno was not told the true nature of the situation by McQueary, not that the child was being molested in the shower, but that there was "only" ( :shake: ) "inappropriate behavior with a young boy,".

First, this article heavily disputes that: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/11/10/s...iddle-of-colleges-scandal.html?pagewanted=all

"A person familiar with his account said McQueary did not spare the details when he met with Paterno. Nor did he when he met with the university?s athletic director and another senior administrator, the man in charge of Penn State?s campus police."

Second, are you fucking kidding me? I mean seriously, are you fucking serious? What part of "INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR WITH A YOUNG BOY" DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND? Unless Joe Paterno had completely lost every bit of his mental faculty by the year 2002 and was living in a complete fantasy world without understanding of the english language, how in the hell is this any excuse at all?!

Inappropriate behavior with a young boy? Boom, that fucker is gone to the police. At the VERY least the matter is explained to the AD, VP, President and Paterno makes sure this matter is pursued until it is resolved. PERIOD. This is JOE PATERNO, not Rob Dipshit from down the street. He owns the fucking place, he could've done what he wanted to with Sandusky, pursued the matter and made sure that this was resolved back in 2002 or at least pursued to teh highest possible level.

INSTEAD he heard McQueary's statement, whatever it was, reported it to the AD, and apparently said "fuck it, good enough". That is INEXCUSABLE. This is child molestation, not money from a booster. This is a serial child rapist and Paterno reported the matter to his superior and apparently did nothing else.

You're damn fucking right his legacy is sullied. He deserves no respsect for his inaction and everyone naive enough to think that this had nothing to do with Paterno's concern for how his "great program" would look after this horror was released to the public shouldn't waste my time by talking to me.

Joe Paterno is a selfish, foolish, disgusting old man that has made it clear that he is most concerned with the false appearance of his legacy, breaking football win records, and playing the part of the great martyr than helping innocent children and making sure that a child molester is stopped before he can ruin anymore lives. He deserves no protection, no sympathy, and no respect. You'll get everything that's coming to you Joe.

http://www.onionsportsnetwork.com/articles/sports-media-asks-molestation-victims-what-this-me,26609/

STATE COLLEGE, PA?After former Penn State defensive coach Jerry Sandusky was charged Saturday with multiple counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, corruption of minors, indecent assault, and unlawful contact with minors, the national sports media sought out his victims this week to ask if they were worried about Joe Paterno's legacy and how their molestations might affect the recently fired head coach's place in the history books.
Describing the downfall of Paterno as "clearly the most devastating thing to come out of the sex scandal," outlets from ESPN to USA Today asked Sandusky's victims if, while being forced to engage in oral and anal sex with a man 40 to 50 years their senior, their primary fear was for Paterno's reputation?and, specifically, for how revelations of their suffering might diminish his two national championships, three Big Ten titles, and 24 bowl victories.
"This is obviously a sensitive subject for you, and I understand how difficult and uncomfortable it must be to talk about the abrupt end of JoePa's career, but as a journalist, it's my responsibility to weed past the 40 counts of sexual misconduct over a 15-year period and the gross negligence on the part of school authorities and ask about what is really important here: Joe Paterno's football accomplishments," Steve Wieberg of USA Today said to one anonymous victim, who was 10 years old when Sandusky assaulted him and who now suffers from irreparable emotional and psychological damage. "He is the winningest Division I football coach of all time and a man whose very name is synonymous with excellence. As a Penn State fan yourself, this must be very tough for you."
"When you told your family how Coach Sandusky forced you to engage in illicit 'soap battles' with him in the shower, what were their thoughts on Joe Paterno?" he continued as the abuse victim stared silently back at him. "Was their immediate response worry and concern for how this might tarnish his six Fiesta Bowl wins?"
Given the delicate situation, sportswriters said they felt the need to tread lightly and initially only asked victims how they thought Paterno might be feeling during this difficult time. They then followed up with more substantial questions about being exploited and preyed upon by a sexual deviant, such as how the victims thought their being pinned against a wall while Sandusky assaulted them might hurt Penn State's 2012 recruiting class; how covering up a systematic pedophile victim-grooming pipeline, in the form of youth football camps, might damage the culture of winning Paterno worked so hard to establish; and whether they were worried about the mental state of the team heading into Saturday's game against Nebraska.
In addition, various representatives from CNN, The New York Times, and Sports Illustrated asked the victims?all of whom will reportedly have to undergo therapy for the rest of their lives?how they thought Paterno's wife, Sue, and their five children were holding up.
Sources later confirmed that one victim, who couldn't stop shaking his head while being questioned, began sobbing openly when asked if he would join the throngs of students who took to the streets to protest the head coach's ouster, and if he thought his molestation would overshadow Paterno's renowned ability to graduate his players.
"The victim I spoke to, who was 12 years old when Sandusky first took advantage of him, looked very upset throughout the entire interview," Sports Illustrated writer Stewart Mandel said. "And when I asked whether he was concerned not just for how Joe Paterno would be remembered, but also for the football program's ability to recover, he told me the interview was over and I should get out of his house."
"Can you blame him, though?" Mandel added. "A coaching legend's reputation hangs in the balance. I'm just as hurt and frustrated as he is."
Many members of the sports media said they found the victims equally uncooperative and generally disinterested in Paterno's Bear Bryant, Walter Camp, and Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year Awards. According to the journalists, shock and trauma were possible reasons for this response, and the victim's were more than likely speechless due to the thought of Paterno's storied career ending on such a sour note.
"I think right now they just need some time," said ESPN senior writer Ivan Maisel, who, in light of the allegations of misconduct at every level of Penn State's administration and the dozens of ruined lives that resulted, filed a column about Paterno's football legacy Wednesday. "I'm sure they'll be better when the dust settles and they realize just how impressive 409 victories really is."
At press time, the victims of years and years of psyche-destroying sexual abuse released a joint statement saying they were not concerned about Joe Paterno's legacy.

Third, just as a matter of basic common sense, it seems totally implausible that a guy who just directly witnessed a decrepit old man sodomizing a boy in a shower, would then go on to describe the situation to his boss so blandly as "I saw inappropriate physical interaction". No one would do that. The only way - the only plausible way - that any person would filter his description of a shocking scene like that, is if Paterno stopped him before he got four words out, and said he didn't want to hear any more. And the only reason Paterno would do that, if he did, is because he already knew pretty much what happened as soon as he heard "boy" "Sandusky" and "shower" together in a sentence, because he already knew what Sandusky was.

I have figured out why McQueary didn't do everything he could have done.

He's a ginger. He has no soul.

good lord what a clusterfuck. Everything about this situation could have been prevented with just doing the RIGHT thing. As we've seen multiple times, doing the RIGHT thing is the hardest thing to do. However in this case, the RIGHT thing was the EASY thing to do.

You see some old pervert in the shower giving it to a kid, you STOP IT.

You know this guy has broken the law, YOU REPORT IT TO THE COPS.

Even as he reported it through his "chain of command", when they don't fucking do anything about it, YOU REPORT IT TO THE COPS.

damned gingers :shake:

At first I was all like... :sick1: :smash: :shake: :[censored]ed:

Then I realized it was The Onion, and was just :shake:

I believe that Onion piece was in response to the attorney who claims he is advising some of the victims. Here is what that attorney had to say:

There are so many opinions on the firing of Penn State head coach Joe Paterno, and they all have their own context. Some make sense, some don't, and some get erased from Twitter in two-and-a-half seconds.

But one opinion that may surprise is that of Harrisburg civil attorney Ben Andreozzi. He has been advising some of the alleged victims of former Penn State defensive coach Jerry Sandusky, but released a statement [Via Pennlive.com] that is certain to raise a few eyebrows:

"The board of trustees got it wrong. They should have consulted the victims before making a decision on Mr. Paterno...They should have considered these victims watch TV and are aware of the students' reaction and may not want to be associated with the downfall of Mr. Paterno. The school instead elected to do what it felt was in its own best interest at the time. Isn?t that what put the school in this position in the first place?"

Andreozzi's statement backed up those in State College and elsewhere who have chosen the Penn State Board of Trustees as the newest villain in a sickeningly sordid affair.

"The way the Board reached its decision raises more concerns than the decision itself. There is no indication the Board considered the impact of the decision on the abuse victims. The school let the victims down once, and I think they owed it to the victims to at least gauge how the immediate termination decision would impact them as opposed to Mr. Paterno's resignation at the end of the year. These victims do not live in a bubble. They see the students reaction to the termination, and to think this does not weigh on their minds would be naive."

Is his assumption fair? Should the victims fear that somehow, in all of this chaos, they will become the villains?

Let's all hope not. Perhaps that fact that we are now hearing from the alleged victims -- even through their parents and representatives -- means they won't have to suffer in silence anymore.

What's implausible to me is that he chose to go to his boss rather than the police. Yet that's what he did. Given that, nothing else this despicable fuckwit did seems odd by comparison.
