Decanonized Mythologized Disgraced Ped State Monster Coach Joe Paterno (Zombie Icon)

I think you seriously underestimate the nature of what he and Bobby Bowden are doing. Many people at their age can't get in and out of bed by themselves, much less have the vim and vigor to get pissy with the national media. Has the quality of his coaching gone down in recent years? Yes. It sure as hell doesn't mean, however, that any of us could do any better. There is a reason why we're all armchair quarterbacks and he has been the head coach at a major D1 football program for decades.
yeah, because he racked up a shit ton of wins against Bowling Green and donates a shit ton more to the University.

Since he beat BG twice, this apparently means that JoePa donated more than $2 to PSU. Of course, I think it's safe to say that's $2 more than BN27 has ever donated to PSU. :wink2:

what does that have to do with people giving him tons of credit for shit that anybody can do? cuz he's old? so what....lots of people are old. his job is to stomp around, be a dickhead to the media, throw in a stupid one liner that isn't funny but have people laugh at it anyways, and let his assistants coach.

whopdee shit.
 sounds like living in PA is taking a toll?

Another rumor has Joe Pa retiring after this season.....

JoPa retiring, Schiano next at PSU? : Fanblogs College Football Blog

While we've heard the rumor that Greg Schiano would leave Rutgers to replace Joe Paterno at Penn State before, the guys at Black Shoe Diaries renew the discussion in light of anonymous sources who say that JoPa will indeed retire after this season.
A source told The Phanatic Magazine Thursday that a succession plan to replace Penn State head football coach Joe Paterno is being ironed out. The man in the middle of this plan -- Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano.
The source told The Phanatic Magazine that Paterno's recent poor health and a divided board of trustees over the program's future has led University President Graham Spanier down this path.
It is unclear, according to the source, whether Paterno or the program will issue a statement about the plan or clarify that this is Paterno's final season at Penn State.

Paterno against early signing period

CAMP HILL, Pa. -- Count Joe Paterno among the opponents of an early signing period in college football.

Southeastern Conference football coaches voted 9-3 last month in favor of asking their league to support an early signing period for late November, similar to a system used in basketball. The coaches presented their case to SEC athletic directors to be considered as national legislation.

"I don't like it," Paterno said Saturday before a dinner for Penn State alumni and boosters in suburban Harrisburg. "I would change some things about when you can talk to kids and when you can't talk to them, but I'm not for the early signing date."

Contd...
