finding the crab seems fairly simple. its a mix of history, weather patterns, and reports from other fishermen. theres plenty of science that goes into that of course. but the concept is simple enough.

tell that to phil. i think he has about 10 crab on his boat in two weeks. as for giving away spots and depths etc, its no different than bass fishing. a pro could tell you where he caught all his fish and what he caught them on but if you were to go out there the next day you'd be lucky to catch a couple.

i was speaking to the "concept" of crab fishing. not the application.

yes, boys not doing well. and the crap about not being a tough guy...? spitting up blood for almost 3 days without medical help... yeah, thats pretty close to "tough".

if i were on the boat i think i would have been pretty darned tempted to call in the coast guard the first watch i got in the wheel house. if it were anyone else on that boat (including a camera guy) they would have dropped everything and went back to dutch.

Might be something serious. They had a show after the program this week called "after the catch", and I have seen some of these before and Phil is usually there for the whole hour along with Sig and Jonathan. This particular program he was there for a quick segment and then he was gone.
Hope to God, I am wrong and i am reading too much into this.....

I don't think it could have been too bad, he was just in Columbus a couple weeks ago for some promotional stuff.

The previews for next week showed him going through a battery of tests and the doc telling him he needed to see a specialist...the doc also said he did NOT have any cracked or broken ribs, it's all lung trouble.

yep, and she isn't going to tell him what it actually is until he sees a specialist. so im thinking his season might be over. he might have to hand the boat off to someone ese while he gets himself checked out. could be why he wasn't on the after the catch show that much.

noticed the northwestern looked to be in some trouble too. not sure exactly what happened though. looked like they were trying to haul a fricken anchor. im guessing it got caught up in a pot somehow. sig seemed to be flippin out more than normal so im guessing this is really bad.
