DE Sam Hubbard (All B1G, National Champion, Cincinnati Bengals)

I like the 4 man rotation with Lewis, Bosa, Hubbard and Holmes. If we can get Bosa 10-15 snaps off a game he will be that much better in the 4th quarter. Bosa is the one true difference maker, but those other 3 guys are goooooood.

I remember last year (in the second OT) against Penn State Bosa was pretty much "spent"/"running on fumes"; and he still made a great play.

I have no idea what level of conditioning/endurance he is at; but with a few "breathers" I'm sure that he could be even more dominate late in the game when the outcome is still to be determined.

If they keep racking up "3 and outs" it won't matter. That's for sure.

How Quickly Life Has Changed for Sam Hubbard

When you’re good at two sports, you can’t be a master of one.

This was the case for Sam Hubbard, a highly recruited football safety out of high school who also an All-American lacrosse player for Archbishop Moeller in Cincinnati.

Hubbard committed to play football for Ohio State the winter of his senior year after a chance meeting with Buckeye head coach Urban Meyer.

“My head coach was the gym teacher at Moeller and I was actually in his gym class my junior year,” Hubbard told the story.

“Coach Meyer walked in with Kerry Coombs and we were all just playing like a normal day of class and he walked in with his leather jacket. Everyone was like, ‘Oh my gosh, that’s Urban Meyer.’”

While Hubbard played dodge ball, Meyer took notice of him. The football coach called him over an introduced the junior to the OSU coaches and that’s where the relationship began.

After getting a scholarship offer, Hubbard had to make a choice. In order to be ready for college football, he would need to put on weight and lacrosse wasn’t going to help him with that. Did he want to commit to football and the Buckeyes or stick with his other love?

“That’s pretty much the main reason I didn’t play lacrosse my senior year was because, it’s basically like playing soccer,” he explained. “You’re running forever and I knew I wasn’t going to gain a pound the whole spring.”

Toss up between most improved player: Hubbs or Conley.

Tough call. Came here to post the same thing. lol. I would say Conley has had the most surprising improvement, whereas Hubbard we heard about all summer long. But both have improved tremendously.

The turnover from Bosa to Hubbard next season (im assuming Bosa goes pro) reminds me of Laurinaitis taking over for AJ Hawk to carry a particular unit. Its just awesome.
