DE Robert Rose (Official Thread)

Rose got 2 sacks, one from right end and one from left. He looked great coming off the edge, even though he was in there late. He looks like he should get a little more PT after that dominating of a series he was in on.

They only have him down for 1 in the stat box. Not sure where you're coming up with the second?

there was a sack, where rose got there first, and wrapped up the legs, and someone pushed teh qb over, i think they gave it to penton...

and the last sack was on the last drive of the game(maybe the last play) and i was clear that rose got the sack...

The Official Stats credit Rose with one sack and 'Team' with a sack on the final play. However, I would agree that it was Rose who got that 'Team' sack.

How fitting to end an OSU game with a Rose "bowl".

One true freshman who has earned playing time is defensive end Robert Rose.

"We think, potentially, he is an outstanding football player," Heacock said. "He fits in with those four. He gives us another dimension. He can play both sides " the end and the Leo. We have two ends and two Leos and then he can swing back and forth. He"s strong and very talented. He's going to be a great football player."

I'd love to see Rose on the field of half the time. He just seems to find a way to the QB in last few plays of the Cincy game and in the Army all american game to. Hey you don't see too many DEs with the # 9, its gotta mean something special.

Rose did get a sack on the last play of the game along with the one he got earlier in the drive. I think the "team" sack may have been the first one he was in on, because IIRC there were multiple guys tackling the QB. The last sack should been credited to Rose because there was no other defender within 5 yards. As for "that dominating of a series he was in on", keep in mind the situation...down by 30 with under a minute left. Talk about an open invite for a full-out pash rush with no other concerns....

I saw somewhere that the 'team' sack was counted on the play where intentional grounding was called. That makes sense since there was no tackle on the play.

If that was the 'team sack', then it was Homan that didn't get the credit he deserved, since he forced the throwaway.

EDIT - The stats on the official site now show Pitcock with 3, Rose with 2, and Homan, Laurinaitis, and Gholston with 1 apiece. It looks like they've been updated to credit Homan on the grounding play.

Rose's sacks per play are ridiculious, he needs to be on the field more because no one seems to be able to keep him from the QB.

Keep in mind most of his big plays are coming late in the ballgame when the opposing offensive line is worn out.

I do think that Rose is going to be an All American by the time he leaves though......
