DE Noah Spence (Official Thread)

My first guess would be somewhere that hires a lot of people who used to smoke pot but has somewhat regular drug tests ?
Civil Servant ? Defense Contractor ?

I would have guessed something more connected with the arts.

In all seriousness, if I even owned a water pipe and work found out I'd be getting interviewed by the SSO.

I remember a time when I was at a bar drinking beer. Set my beer down to go take a piss. Came back, took a drink from my bottle of beer and felt several pills go down. "Da frick was that?" -- "You'll be fine it was just some..."

I don't remember what it was now. It was early 90s so probably Valium or something.

It does happen...

I never left my beer sitting back in the day. If I was making a head call it was going with me. Not over concern of getting dosed, but because I'll be damned if some mooch is getting my beer.

I don't think it's irrelevant whether Spence intentionally took X or whether he was the victim of a practical joke (or more sinister action). I'd think if Spence could prove he was victimized without his awareness, the penalty could and should be moderated. Not sure that's going to be possible to prove, though.
Every job or school Ive taken a test for, if you take the time to read all the paragraphs they give you , state a positive test is a positive test..circumstances are not relavant.

I've never had to take a drug or alcohol test, so I'm not speaking from a position of direct knowledge, but I'd be disappointed if the NCAA worked the same way. Being punished for being a victim doesn't seem consistent with their ostensible purpose of helping student-athletes.

What are they hurting though? The NCAA's job isn't to get the student athletes to the NFL. Failing a drug test gives you a suspension, you don't lose your scholarship for the first time, and it doesn't prevent you from going to class.

If you don't think being deprived of the ability to play games constitutes punishment for someone like Spence, I don't know what to tell you.

Never said it wasn't a punishment. But it's also not hurting him in terms of you saying the NCAA should help student athletes. In fact it's now on the fool me once fool me twice mentality. If this happens again, clearly Spence didn't learn or he actually was the one taking it. Therefore, it actually is helping him.

Yeah, I guess all those folks who shopped at Target should be fined? Bet they'll pay better attention to their PIN selection next time ...

And I know this isn't analogous, and I also know it's unlikely Spence can prove he was an innocent victim (assuming he actually is). No more comments from me on this.

Not expecting you to respond, but actually Target should be punished for their security not being up to snuff. When you handle so many people's information, you need to be able to handle security breaches long before giving more than 2 weeks of access. That's on Target for not paying attention. So while Target wasn't the one doing the stealing, it was still their responsibility to prevent it from happening or at least severely limiting the damage from it happening.

No disagreement here, brother.

Yeah had that happen to me when I was a kid....old glass pop bottle rather than beer. :sick1:

Also remember some older guy being majorly pissed (harhar) at our HS graduation party after drinking out of a bottle that someone had urinated in.

No the popular word these days is Hookah I guess.. lol. Sound more like someone you may find dancing in windows in Amsterdam. But then what do I know?

Are you from Boston?
