DE Nick Bosa (Pro Bowl, All Pro, 2019 ROY, 2022 DPOY, San Francisco 49ers)

You told us that the guy would be a real contributor in spite of numerous others who suggested that yeah, maybe dial it back a bit. You are doing it again here. It's a you thing.
I posted 17 times in Gibson's thread. Two were of images and one a "fify" on Oh8ch's post on nacho ladies. Here are the remaining 14 posts:

Last WR with those initials turned out pretty good for us...

I was indeed in that camp. I'd guess UFM had a good reason not to play him, but in my mind I couldn't see any wrong in giving him a shot and see if he's the real deal at WR, especially with WR depth issues we had.

Not sure why you're calling me out here, but since you did, I would've like to have seen him play but I'm losing any sleep over his not playing.

The kid was adamant about getting a chance to play QB, but went to Meyer to say he'd be willing to move to WR (albeit temporarily) just so he can...

I think if he reaches anywhere close to his potential as a WR (about which many in practices have been raving), I don't see him sticking around when his three years are up. A 6'4" WR with blazing speed and outstanding moves is something many NFL teams covet. That's of course if he actually does reach that potential during his first three years. He may stay fours years, but I wouldn't bank on it...

Why "save" him? For what? If he indeed does redshirt, you think he'll still stay here for 3-4 more years?

I think that as soon as he gets his black stripe removed Meyer will put him in. Even if he doesn't start playing for another few games he still will contribute for half the regular season and the post season (up to three more games), giving us a much-needed deep threat. This would not only help us out on offense this season but will prep him for the next 2-3 years...

Hoping to see him on the field soon. Could help stretch the field a bit more, helping out Cardale and opening up the run game more for Zeke...

I'm looking for Torrance to light up the VT secondary...

Can't embed mobile Youtube. Change the "m." to "www." before "youtube.com".

Zeke's not going to be in the backfield every snap. I don't see a problem with having both Cardale and JT in simultaneously once in a while. The first time or two just do it to see how the defense adjusts, and then tailor a play for that the next time they come out...

People are suggesting, and some even somewhat pushing, that Gibson will eventually be moved to WR, and he's not even on campus yet. We've seen how players changes drastically once they get on campus, so any "projections" of moving him to another position are premature at this point. As @Muck implied above, Justin Zwick was supposed to be the QB and Troy Smith was the athlete to be moved to another position, and we see whose number is now up in The Shoe.

Yep. We're all guessing based solely upon performance against high school opponents of greatly differing levels of talent. Let's allow the staff get Gibson and Burrow on the field and see what they truly have.

I deleted a post that bashed Gibson. Any more of that from anyone and the transgressor be sitting out until after NLOID.

Keep in mind we'll have six scholarship QBs on the roster next year (Miller, Barrett, Jones, Collier, Burrow, and Gibson) provided Miller does return for his fifth year...there's not going to be a whole lot of PT to be spread around.

Show me where I said anything his being a real contributor...

Expectations Are High for Nick Bosa and For Good Reason

BosaAtShoe.jpg

You know the name, but do you know the brother?

Joey Bosa spent the last three years dominating college football. As a true freshman he finished with 44 total tackles, 13.5 tackles for a loss, and was second on Ohio State with 7.5 sacks.

From there, Joey only got better and better and could very well be the No. 1 pick April’s NFL Draft.

On National Signing Day, the Buckeyes got the official word that Joey’s younger brother Nick, who committed to OSU back in July, would be following in his brother’s footsteps all the way from Fort Lauderdale, FL to Columbus.

Joey finished his Buckeye career with 150 tackles, 50.5 tackles for a loss, and 26 sacks. Those are big shoes to fill for Nick, but Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer believes there are reasons he will be able to step right into those.

“He's a little ahead of his brother at this time,” Meyer said of the younger Bosa on signing day.

You can tell the OSU coaches are excited about Bosa by the way they talk about him. When asked for freshmen that need to make an impact in 2016, Meyer didn’t blink before saying, “Nick Bosa is an automatic.”

With all this hype surrounding the 10th-ranked player in the country coming out of high school, it would almost be impossible for Bosa to live up to expectations. Throw in the success of his brother at Ohio State and his father – who was a first round pick of the Miami Dolphins in 1987 – and the pressure to perform seems out of this world.

While all of this could weigh on Bosa, co-defensive coordinator Luke Fickell thinks it is because of the expectations of growing up with such an impressive family that Nick will succeed with the Scarlet and Gray.

“You're not obviously ever for sure on guys that are committing as far as how ready and more so mentally the things they can handle. But the great thing you can say about probably Nick as well as Joey is that they grew up around it,” Fickell said.

“And really to look at it, the Bosa family, Joey with his dad playing, he had big shoes to fill and obviously high expectations. So I don't know that it's going to be anything different for Nick.”
