DE/LB Thaddeus Gibson (official thread)

His scout profile shows a 2.5. If he could offset that with a good Act or Sat score he could still have a chance. If he could have a decent year this year with a 3.0 show the willingness in the classroom to improve and improve his test score he could still have a chance.

I would hate for him to slip away. I think it says something if Tenn, scUM, and us are still recruiting him. It shows there is a chance especially since he has a visit to scUM.

A good score in his case would have to be a 22 or better on the ACT to have a decent chance with a 2.5 GPA. Even with that kind of score, it'll be an uphill battle.

If tOSU can't take him, the last place I want to see Thaddeus is scUM. That is one kid I NEVER want to see north of the boarder!

Well, you can look at it like that but the reality is that Gibson is such a talent with a very special combination of speed and size for his position that the major schools who can afford to wait until the last possible chance, will wait to see if he gets qualified.

If his top two schools really are tOSU and scUM, which are both very good and very tough on academics these days, then you would think that he would realize that he needs to step it up to make it to either of them. If his grades really are an issue, then he's gonna definitely make somebody happy by ending up at his third or fourth choice school. Hopefully it's not too late, and he can turn it around in time to get serious about becoming a Buckeye.

You do not need a 22 on the ACT to qualify with a 2.5. A 2.5 GPA requires a total score of 68. which is a "17". If you have a 22 which is an 88. 2.0 is all that is "required". Many schools, Ohio State being one of them is looking for more. It's smart. An awful lot of money on the line.:wink2:

No mention of Gibson, but his team got back in the win column last night...

Euclid 40, Lakewood 7

Junior running back Jaman Javey gained 156 yards on 20 carries and scored once as the host Panthers (4-3) won the Lake Erie League Lake Division game.

Javey had a 37-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Jamall Javey scored on a 9-yard run and 38-yard interception return in the fourth quarter.

Euclid receiver Cedric Perry caught four passes for 80 yards

Thaddeus picked up an offer from Tennessee and will visit Michigan for the tOSU game. He says he does not have a favorite and does not buy into the expectation of going to the in-state school. He will make a decision around Christmas.

I am not sure, but I know they don't mind academics, they take a couple juco's every year, and they had a couple people not qualify last year. I think they have them go to a community college or juco and them pick them up.

that sounds about right...either eway, anyways who has been following Thad's recruiting should not be too shocked about this news. he has been borderline in the classroom and needed to get things taken care of. sounds like he hasn't quite been able to get that done. it's unfortunate...
