DE/LB Nathan Williams (official thread)

I personally don't know what we are waiting on...if Koger was offered over Williams, I would be shocked. I think Koger must be a TE offer and his offer surprised me because I thought Moore would be next. But I would have to admit that I would be disappointed if we didn't take Williams. Wants so bad to be a Buckeye and has got even taller and bigger lately...I think he earns that offer. You just can't turn down a player like Williams that loves OSU and is a legit OSU caliber player.
Williams seems a lot like Vincent Browne from last year's class - both are about the same size and speed, both are considered to be tweeners (MLB/DE/DT), both are from smaller high school programs, and both are/were huge Buckeye fans. Browne never got an offer, so will Williams get one in a small class? Hard to say... DT seems like Williams's ultimate position in college, but with DT offers to Goebel and Mobley (OSU has a good chance at both, and don't forget about Josh Jenkins, who could also play DT), where would Nate fit in?

It's no secret that Ohio State needs to get more athletic in the "power" positions - does Williams have the overall athletic ability that tOSU is looking for? Maybe camp answers that question....

A bit OT, but I have always doubted that Moore would be in tOSU's plans.

I personally don't think Browne was in Williams league...Browne was a good player but I don't think he had the raw ability that Williams does. If Williams hasn't lost a step from getting 2 inches taller, I would say he is plenty fast enough. I watched Nathan do some pretty impressive things from the RB position...at 6'3 240. Pretty darn athletic but I do think he earns an offer and I don't think there is any way he ends up at DT. Plus I don't see us landing a DE prospect that we have offered yet(who have we offered anyways...maybe Christian Wilson?), unless Koger is being looked at there. Just all my personal opinion of course and everyone else is entitled to theirs...can't always agree on things.

We're still in on Nix too arent we? Or is he projecting elsewhere?

Nix is either an OL or a DT...Williams will play neither. But Nix will likely go to Pitt anyways.

"Based on grades, or "other reasons"."

He has a 4.0, so other reasons.

Williams? I don't think he can compare with what Rose was like physically coming out of high school...Rose was Rivals #1 DE in the nation his senior year and dominated the AA game.

Agree - plus Williams is a "longer" defensive end prospect - he plays longer and looks longer than Rose. Rose is more compact, and looks like a brick house coming off the edge. He is as thick as a DT with DE speed. To me, completely different playing styles.
