DE/LB Nathan Williams (official thread)

I saw a reference to him being an "undersized DE". Isn't he about 6'4", 250 nowadays?

Undersized????

Well he looks small compared to the rest of the d-linemen, and 250 pounds isn't really all that big for a DE (Heyward, Rose and Wilson are all above 275). You gotta love his speed off the edge though

Just wait untill next year when he continues to get stronger and put some weight on he will be even more beastly.

Weight isn't always important at DE. I'd rather have someone pretty big who can get off the edge really quick and just burn the tackles than someone who is a big brute and needs to rely on strength to get to the QB.

Nate Williams is a beast, give that man more playing time.

This kid is going to be a FREAK!!!!! I watched him almost the entire time when he was in while at the game and saw nothing but intensity, desire, and fire. I told my brother he reminds me of a young Mike Vrabel. If he becomes half as good the Bucks will have something special for sure.

Great game for Nathan!

Quick story about my encounter with Nathan Williams:

Walking back from the stadium a few games ago, I saw NW walking also. I shouted out, "Great game, 4...3!" He shouted back, "I'm switchin numbers next year (i forget which # he said)...but keep your eyes open, you'll be hearing a lot about me!" (said with a very genuine sounding excitment / glea for the game and a big smile) I replied, "Oh we already know about ya...keep it up!" A hand wave in aknowlegement from him and another big smile, and he continued on his way.

The comment, "You'll be hearing a lot about me!" might be mistaken as cockiness, but the way he said it, and the smile he had, the excitment in his voice...it was the type of excitment I see in my 10 year old son after he scores 3 goals in a soccer game...loves to play...happy to be helping his teammates win the game and see his hard work paying off on game-day.

I was a really neat exchange from my perspective, and I can't wait to see what this kid's got with a full off-season under his belt. Opposing Quarterbacks beware! :lift:

I've got to say that I'm really impressed with him so far. He's much, much faster than I expected. He always chases hard from the backside and does a decent job of taking away the cut back. He has yet to muff a tackle and has always wrapped up ball carriers. I can't wait to see what he does next year.
