DE Keith Wells (Columbus State; transfer to Ohio Dominican)

The AJC report sounds like Wells is going to UT but I guess we'll know soon enough.
Why? Because UT was his best visit? Really, a 48-hour visit is not a very good way to determine where one wants to spend 48 months of his life ... and Keith knows that.

I hope we can land wells especially after the Tressel visit. What makes you so confident about these guys, Wadc45?

Two different sources (three if you count our friends at Scout) close to the situation who have corroborated each other's intel...that and my trusty Magic 8 Ball.

Elephant has said to be patient on this one...he obviously knows of what he speaks.

There were other signs. He plans to commit right after Fat Phil's planned home visit. That plus the talking up of UT's "winning tradition" and DEs etc. doesn't sound that good for us. Again, I defer to the experts here but :osu:commits typically don't talk praises about any other school right after JT visited them.

Anyways, non-recruitniks like me will have to wait till its official.

There are plenty of instances where Buckeye commits waited until after a later visit by another coach before committing to us. As for his "talking up" UT, he was simply explaning why he's still considering them.

Not trying to hijack this thread (what a way to start a post ) but I think UT's DEs win out out in a comparison against tOSU's.

As Starbucks noted, Reggie White coupled with Little and Haynesworth is pretty formidable. Haynesworth was one of the best defensive players in the league this year (certainly at his position) and when he isn't backing over women and children with his SUV and a 40 oz of Colt 45, Little is a force off the edge.

Vrabel is a converted LB, so I can't count him, nor can I count Peterson and Pickett (DTs), Finkes didn't last long enough in the NFL....I will give you Will Smith, Richardson, Darrion Scott, and Spellman.

However, while Smith has been great at times, Scott rotates in w/ the Vikes, Richardson's career is in its infancy, and Spellman was only great when he took his meds.

Reggie White alone makes the UT group of DEs much better.

Back to Wells: I don't think he can do wrong at either school given both have shown the ability to get college DL into the NFL (which I think was your point Caustic - that tOSU was better at getting DEs to the league, and now I get that)...but if Wells wants an honest coach who won't sell him on baseless facts, etc just to get him in the door and to play at one of the top 5 programs in college football (of all time), then tOSU is the place for him.

Haynesworth is a DT, so by your own logic, he wouldn't count in the DE comparison of tOSU vs. UT.

Albert Haynesworth? Parys Haralson? Demetrin Veal? Will Overstreet? Shaun Ellis? Corey Terry? Leonard Little? Jonathan Brown? Steve White? Todd Kelly? Chris Mims? I'm sorry, I don't see it. I think Keith is being nice.

Take a look here (search) for OSU DEs, fairly impressive considering the number still in the NFL and making an impact: DraftHistory.com

Richarson, Smith, Scott, Peterson, Pickett, Bailey, Vrabel, Finkes, Spellman over the same years.
Interesting math there, Caustic
Last 15(ish) years, brother. 1992.

By Bill Kurelic.....Wells states he is down to Tennessee and Ohio State. Mentions he is done with his visits and will decide next week.

Interesting that this update says he is done with visits but the Scout article says he might. Anyway, VERY positive update for OSU IMO.

This article is now free, you just have to do the free reg to read it. Link is still good.

After reading your post, I read through the article again and I see how you could read into it this way, and while I appreciate your caution, (Ben Martin, Adam Myers-White), I can't agree this time. I don't think FillFull will have anywhere near the same effect on mommy as our Jimmy. I hope!!!

I'm puttin' my faith here 100% in the 45 (and the all knowing winking head) and counting The Guns Keith into the '08-'11 SEC-USC killing party!

OK, 45, lets go, baby!
