DE Keith Wells (Columbus State; transfer to Ohio Dominican)

Keith is wanting to talk to Tressel, which is a big reason why he didn't rush into a decision last week.

I'm sure I'm reading too much into this, but why would he want to talk with JT first before rushing into a decision?

Either he wants to commit to JT, or
Does this mean he was going to make a decision and commit to someone but wanted to wait and talk with JT before making that decision?

Its been said many times that JT encourages recruits to slow down and be sure before offering his verbal commitment to OSU. That way the kid is sure its the right choice and that its a firm committment.

Seeing how much Wells obviously cares for Tressel, maybe JT simply asked to please wait until he sees him one last time before making any lasting decisions. I have a feeling this one's is done when JT leaves GA.

FWIW---->not much

I think Keith will commit to Tress at the in home visit this week.
This will be a great add to an already outstanding class. Wells has loads of potential and is also well spoken and down to earth. I like this young man very much indeed. :)

There's no such thing as he "will commit to Tress at the in home visit this week", unless you are one of his parents and know him that well.

I do think that our chances are high. If you follow his interviews and videos, there is no doubt that this kid is awesome! It would be great having Keith represent Buckeye football.

Jazzman,

I believe I said I think which would indicate that it is my opinion, I'm not saying I have any inside information. Just a gut feeling that he would like to commit directly to Tress if he is going to commit.

Bucknuts $

By Bill Kurelic.....Wells states he is down to Tennessee and Ohio State. Mentions he is done with his visits and will decide next week.

Interesting that this update says he is done with visits but the Scout article says he might. Anyway, VERY positive update for OSU IMO.

IMO Keith is a Buckeye.

If you listen to any of his interviews, he is very well-spoken for his age. He seems to have things in perspective, and to be an intelligent guy.

Also, if you hear him talk about Tressel even once, I think that would clear up any doubt about where he wants to play college football. He LOVES Tressel, and is completely sold on the kind of guy JT is and how he is a man he would want to have coach him for his college career.

Ohio State?s Tressel recruits in Georgia; Lipscomb to visit Athens?
By Jeff Hood

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Published on: 01/22/08

Gainesville defensive end Keith Wells received an in-school and in-home visit from Ohio State coach Jim Tressel on Tuesday.

?It was a really, really good experience for me,? Wells said. ?Over the past couple of months, Coach Tressel [and I] have grown together.

?Out of all the coaches I?ve talked to, he?s probably one of the most genuine guys I?ve met. He?s definitely a person to meet.?

The 6-foot-5, 215-pound Wells, who originally committed to Florida State in August, confirmed Tuesday evening that he will choose between Ohio State and Tennessee in just over a week.

?I?m actually going to commit next week, probably Thursday or Friday,? he said. ?It?ll be between Ohio State and Tennessee.

?I?ll evaluate and keep asking all the questions I can ask.?

Wells, who visited the Buckeyes in early December, enjoyed a successful trip to Knoxville last weekend.

?Tennessee has a legacy of winning, and I definitely like that,? Wells said. ?They?re a solid program and I have an opportunity to play there.

?They have about three real defensive ends, and two of them are seniors. I could go in and make an impact as a freshman.

?It?s not too far away from home, but distance isn?t an issue. They have a great tradition of defensive ends coming out of that school. The visit to Tennessee was probably my best visit.?

Says a significant amount as a recruit, no doubt.

tOSU has a better legacy of winning. Keith knows this.

The only real threat, IMO.

Albert Haynesworth? Parys Haralson? Demetrin Veal? Will Overstreet? Shaun Ellis? Corey Terry? Leonard Little? Jonathan Brown? Steve White? Todd Kelly? Chris Mims? I'm sorry, I don't see it. I think Keith is being nice.

Take a look here (search) for OSU DEs, fairly impressive considering the number still in the NFL and making an impact: DraftHistory.com

Richarson, Smith, Scott, Peterson, Pickett, Bailey, Vrabel, Finkes, Spellman over the same years.
