DE Keith Wells (Columbus State; transfer to Ohio Dominican)

oh i think he can put on the weight and i think he will be a beast...just wonder how long it takes to put it on where all parties fell comfortable...but DL is a need position and if he can play sooner than later....great...

Definitely but I think he'll need a redshirt, just like Solomon Thomas last year, to put on that weight and gain some strength.

If he's actually as quick as he looks in his YouTube video, don't be surprised if he see time as a true frosh. I wouldn't be surprised to see him 20+ pounds heavier by the time September rolls around...

Seems to me that the staff was not adverse to getting a smaller but more quick/agile DE some time in Thad Gibson, with Wells having played DE in HS he may get some time even undersized. Does anyone know the level of competition faced by his team in HS?

Wells realizes that there is a good chance of him being redshirted. Being redshirted is not a problem for him no matter what school he ends up at. This kid will have his hand down when he gets to college. You guys need to relax a little:)

20-30 pounds certainly isn't unheard of going from a senior in high school to freshman year in college. A lot of physical maturation happens during that time in addition to being charged with a college lifting program after season and over the summer (of course depends on his high school staff and regimen).

That is the best thing, when kids realize that they might need to redshirt to really be able to take their game to a level where they can compete at a high level, and not just waste a year of eligibility...

Sorry, don't understand. What does it mean that he "will have his hand down"? This is a real question, by the way, not used in international English.

Steve's just confused because he keeps thinking about what a great second row Keith would make in rugby...
