William says Coach Herman told him to expect a Buckeye offer in the next few weeks.
 
247 created a profile for Ulmer and they graded him as a 4 star with a score of 90.

My take: this tape gives evidence to the rumor that William Ulmer is the closest thing to a future Braxton Miller that exists in high school football today. He appears to have similar acceleration and shows improvement throwing the ball compared to his previously posted sophomore year film. His emergence tis fall could be a reason why offers to the 2014 QBs has taken longer than some expected.

Like his jersey number.....seems like a Jalin Marshall/Braxton Miller clone. Throwing motion is a little long and loaded and not sure he has the ball velocity of Braxton.....but definitely take him and let him make plays. Go Bucks

First QB prospect I've liked for our offense (other then the 2-3 dual threats who have committed elsewhere) in the 2014 class.
We need a dynamic runner. No offense to Barker, Henderson, or the Allen kid, but they simply don't move well enough to provide a game changing run threat.

Can these players be successful in the Meyer system, sure.. but I feel a helluva lot better adding Miller and Barrett type athletes at the position, then going the John Brantley route (highly touted HS passer with limited mobility)..

The problem is, Brantley was a terrible passer in college. I would be perfectly fine with a very very good pass first, run 2nd QB who might not have the same mobility as Braxton but makes up for it with his arm.

I feel like those guys are hard to project. Brantley was a five star passer out of high school. If a guy like that never becomes a great thrower they are worthless. The dual threat who even becomes just an average passer can be a Heisman candidate.. just look at Braxton this year.

If we have room, I'd like to see 2 QB's, especially with the injury to Barrett (I'm hoping for the best and he will probably be ok, but just for insurance). I would like to see an athlete like Ulmer and a more pro-style guy like Barker or Henderson. Honestly though, Barker's athleticism is understated...I seriously see a TON of Tebow in his game, maybe not at the same level. I am a huge fan of Barker, but I would like to see another guy like Ulmer in this class.

Fair point. Although Braxton is only a heisman candidate because he is the second coming of Barry Sanders on the ground. Tough for future dual threats to match that.

Braxton, heck look at Collin Klein and even johnny manziel! Klein could probably win the Heisman being a below average passer but an exceptional runner. Eric crouch won the Heisman being that exact type of player

Exactly.

With our offensive system, give me the dynamic runner... as I said, if you can take that guy and within a couple years get him to become a decent passer, you will have a damn good offense. Their ability to run really puts the defense at a disadvantage and can open up passing windows thus the need to be a pinpoint passer doesn't have to be there.. I feel the field opens up a ton when you have that running QB..

If the staff can identify the next Joe Montana.. then go get him, but again, I wouldn't waste too much effort trying to get these types of guys.. I'd identify the dynamic runners each class and get 1-2 of them each year..

For me Drew Barker is an okay prospect. I don't see a dynamic thrower or runner.. He'd be okay IMO if you want to take him as a second QB in this class and see if you can develop him to play in 2-3 years... However, you'd have to sell me that Barker has wheels like an Alex Smith for me to really be on board with him.. At this point, he's not even an elite thrower of the football.. So again, I dont see Barker as the guy that will be the next big Meyer QB..

I think we're still uncovering players for the 2014 class. Didn't even know who Ulmer was a week ago. Based on his junior tape he's intriguing. More so the more drop back guys we've been talking about.

Not sold on Kizer as an tOSU caliber recruit right now. Again though, tons of time for new guys to come onto the scene, camps, etc..

I don't know who I want at this point in 2014, just that this kid is worth keeping on the radar because it looks like he is a dynamic runner

I like DeShaun Watson and Ulmer, based on what I've seen thus far. Watson is a prolific passer at the high school level, as well as a good athlete/runner. Ulmer looks like a poor-man's Braxton, but he fits the offense better than most of the kid's we're looking at. Hopefully Meyer is able to flip Watson...I know Clemson fans are worried, especially if Chad Morris leaves to be a head coach somewhere.

Agree with the previous poster about Barker; decent, but doesn't do anything exceptionally well. I feel like people see the size and rushing numbers and want to compare him to Alex Smith or Tim Tebow, but he's nowhere near that level.
