DC/LB Coach Jim Knowles (Official Thread)

I think Knowles should probably just be the DC next season and bring in a full-time linebacker coach (which means Parker Fleming is no longer special teams coach).

We need to concentrate on that side of the ball even more (if that's even possible).

I honestly don't even have that much of a problem with Knowles plan. ALL of us were begging Knowles to load the box and make JJ beat you with his arm. He hadn't shown he could all year and airmailed several passes today. Well he...kinda did I guess although a 50% completion rate is ass. SCUM had 10 rushing yards at the half. It's not his fault the offense peed down their legs most of the game. Tell the WRs to nut the fuck up and catch a contested pass for once. Some of those drops were back breaking.

He did adjust. It resulted in 15 play 7:51 min drive. The offense then tripped on it's dick again with a 3 and out. And he decided agressive before was either stop them 3 and out or get burned for a big play. They down 11 and he decided to risk it to get the offense more possessions.

I’d imagine the plan involved your secondary not absolutely shitting the bed several times. Cover 0 was pretty clearly working whenever the DBs were intelligent enough to not let someone be 20 yards away from the nearest defender.

I don't really have a problem with how Knowles schemed this game up. The corners falling down or missing tackles is what caused those long plays in the first half, not the scheme. The scheme was working fucking great. Maybe a better corners coach is all I would change here.

At the end of the game it was players quitting and getting beat 1 on 1 after they were gassed when our offense couldn't put a single drive together in the last 20 minutes. A safety 15 yards deep would have taken 14 pts off the board, but he was calling a defense to win, not trying to only lose by 8.

This loss is 100% on the offense and Day, I put it zero on Knowles.

Really?!? With how the linebackers were playing this year, you want to tell Knowles NOT to coach linebackers? After what we've seen from linebacker play in the last half decade?

Yep after the offense tripped on it's dick after he changed up to be conservative and they went 15 plays 7:51 he clearly went high risk high reward. And he got some more stops but the dam eventually burst

The defensive playcalling was fine. That blitz that led to the first big TD is something every fan had been praying for going into this game. Knowles can only put people into position to make plays. He can’t make them make a play. If you can’t run that blitz without someone getting wideeeeeee open downfield, that’s because you have bad players.
