DC DE Dylan Stewart (South Carolina Verbal)

Birm has also been hammering that there’s a deeply ingrained idea (lie) in the south that you can’t make it to the NFL outside of the SEC on defense that Ohio State is constantly going up against.

This is easily disproven, but I’d still something Ohio State is consistently battling, apparently. Maybe a younger coach could hit back more aggressively by pointing out simple truths… but more frequently via text, I guess, instead of just in person, which doesn’t happen a lot.

I would get a younger coach who has both NFL and CFB experience. Obviously, keep LJ to coach if possible.

They should have brought his heir apparent in 2 years ago when the window was wide open. I'm not saying it's closed but the transition might be bumpier now. Bring them in immediately as a paid consultant if you have to but quit waiting until the ****s up to your knees before you call the plumber!

Edit: my bad forgot, recruiting forum.

Easily disproven indeed, there is an insane amount of DL on NFL rosters from the B1G. Plus a ton of OL, meaning there is top flight competition to go against each year for scouts to evaluate you against. Probably preaching to the choir here of course.

As to Stewart, this is one we've almost gotta win after last year's misses and Lightfoot in this class. Same probably goes for Houston really.

Edit - He just picked South Carolina. This is getting bad for the DE position if we can't turn it around in the '24 class...

There’s a lot of time before signing day, and there’s always the transfer portal, as well, but something definitely needs to happen with DL recruiting after the last two cycles—and I don’t see what that is other than a transition away from LJ Sr.

Yep, seems like big momentum is building and then it quickly fades.
Could be directly related to LJ Sr. being great in-person but having difficulty staying connected with kids digitally—a crucial component in modern recruiting, especially nationally when it’s more difficult to get kids back on campus.
