South Florida DB Cash draws a crowd - ESPN
Safety Jeremy Cash (Plantation, Fla./Plantation) has the size and athleticism to make an impact in college.
During Saturday's practice with his 7-on-7 all-star team, the South Florida Express, Cash displayed good coverage skills and showed the ability to play in space well. The next day at the Under Armour combine at the Miami Dolphins training facility, Cash again was impressive. The 6-foot-1, 185-pounder put up good testing numbers, including a 4.58-second 40-yard dash, a 4.44-second pro shuttle and a 31-inch vertical leap. He also broad jumped 9 feet, 6 inches. During the one-on-one and 7-on-7 portions of the combine, Cash was one of the more active defenders, knocking down several balls, including one impressive break up down the sideline of a well-thrown pass.
Chances are Cash is a strong safety in college. He is good against the run and had nearly 100 tackles last season for Plantation, which also features fast-rising linebacker/defensive end Ryan Shazier.
Miami (Fla.) was the first program to offer. Ohio State, Florida State and North Carolina also are in the mix for his services. He first drew the attention of the Buckeyes and Canes with standout summer camp performances at the respective institutions.
