DB Eugene Clifford (official thread)

all this talk about Gene being benched for a missed tackle is off base by a lot. Gene had/has a spained ankle and that has limited him in practice and, thusly, kept him out the last couple of weeks...I am sure that missed tackle didn't help his cause, but I can think of 1 million freshmen who have missed a tackle...heck, I'm a Bengals fan..I can think of a whole bunch of professional players who miss a tackle!

With that said i was with one of his friends from home this weekend and he mentioned that gene had either a broken ankle or a highly sprained one...I know H&G's info is always dead on so this just confirmed what I heard

Hopefully he can fully recover because he is gonna be a good one :)

"Eugene had been hurt and and really hadn't played in the last four or five games and hadn't come back from that, but you always get disappointed when guys have to lose privilege," said Tressel.

"We constantly talk about it, we constantly warn our guys that if guys don't do this they may have some problems. When you have a hundred-something teenagers and even one of them has a problem, or two or three or four, it disappoints you. Just from a pure football standpoint Eugene really wasn't in the mix the last half of the season due to that injury."

Ohio State Buckeyes football players likely to get caught if they use drugs

Doug Lesmerises
Plain Dealer Reporter

Quote:
Additionally, two sources with ties to Ohio State confirmed that freshman defensive back Eugene Clifford's suspension from Monday's game with LSU, announced two weeks ago, was for a failed OSU drug test.
Basically nothing but rumor-mongering and innuendo. What purpose is served by trash like this? If this is the best source Lesmerises can find for his story, he shouldn't write it.

Any new updates on gene cliffords status. He is still currently on the team right? Any chances he see's any playing time this year in the secondary or is he still in the doghouse with tressel. Heck of player with a ton of ability who needs to get his head on straight. Hope things work out for him. Any info would be great!:oh::io:
