DB Corey "Pittsburgh" Brown (DB Coach Slippery Rock Univ.)

I've got to agree with you on that. Seriously... even at a 50% hit rate on these guys, it's a heck of a class. I'm betting on 75% hit rate.

Where'd you go with the extra ship tho?

Either way, heck of a time to be a Buckeye. These past two classes have just been unreal. Looking like the next one may shape up to be as well. Wow... just wow.

:osu:

I would push for Adams, Boyd, Hall, Brown, Moses...then bank whatever...Next years class is looking like a lot of talent as well...

And I wouldn't sleep on Green either! There's a reason why there's a few teams in the south fighting for his services even though he's still committed to us. Any way you slice it, you could argue this might be the most talented bunch of DB's we've ever recruited, even without Hosley or Edwards.

We really ought to get back to Corey Brown though, seeing as though this is his thread...

Ive seen numerous folks who have seen Barnett in person say he's going to play FS in college

I said it months ago, that Brown was the best CB in the class.. actually i had to fight off the expert guys (wadc, hotmic, 40, etc) on here.. it was a good debate we had back on page 5.

I've seen him twice and I think Barnett has the tools to be a great corner but he struggled playing there this year. Could be much like fellow Northmont grad Kurt Coleman and end up at safety. However, all of his flaws are technical and can be fixed, I see him at corner but able to play safety. I'm looking forward to seeing how he performs in the UA All American game. However, I think Brown may be the best player as of now. Barnett and Clarke have the potential but Brown is the bigger producer right now. All that being said, I love Brown's competitive nature above all and he is a proven winner. We have 5 great athletes at DB in this class but I'm liking Brown better day by day. I think he may push for early PT.

Agreed on Barnett...after seeing him his year I think he could end up at safety. I thought Coleman was going to be a CB originally only to see him physcial nature dictate a move

Eating crow on that one (although I am hardly an "expert")...my comments were before I saw any senior games/film of any of these three (in fact at the time, I had only seen limited film of Clarke and had him penciled in on offense originally...possibly RB). I am on record the last few months as saying I think Clarke could be an early contributor, much like Chekwa was, in nickle packages. I have to admit I undersold Brown as a DB...there is going to be some stiff competition.

Hey now, I didn't disagree that Brown was awesome....I was a HUGE Brown pimp even before he was offered. While I liked Barnett more at the start of the season, I agree that I would rank Brown ahead of Barnett at this point.

No matter what, our DB is in VERY good hands for the next 4-5 years.

Not sleeping on Green, just not sure if we see him on offense or defense yet...

We're on the same boat there. I see Green playing offense if Barnett, Brown, and Clarke play corner. Or if we get Hosley. The more I see of Brown though the more I like him at corner. I think he can be a solid WR but an elite corner.

My Take: If this kid is not a 5-star, they should scrap the system. Looks great at safety and has the tools to play CB...watch the last clip for some serious change of direction and the ever popular catchphrase "hips." Excellent ball skills and is not afraid to lay the wood. I'll be surprised if he redshirts.

I hate throwing around labels like "the next Teddy Ginn" or whatever but that breakdown by grad sounds like the same way most of us would describe Malcolm Jenkins...

Seriously though, I still find it hard to believe that for a time, people thought that Brown was fighting for an offer....

Man he closes fast and hits way harder than I had expected. Seems to know where the ball is when its in the air real well, and does a better job than the receiver in almost every clip at getting the ball at it's highest point. Plus we know he has some hands too..

What stuck out to me above his physical ability (which is impressive) is that he "gets it." Corey just seems to have a great mental grasp of everything going on that he can just play with a wreckless abandon. He just attacks the ball and is always in the right place at the right time. I see no hesitation in his game. I also thought he was very smooth out of his breaks in his WR clips. I agree though, definetly a 5 star and with a good performance in San Antonio I'm sure he'll get it.

Rivals.com Football Recruiting - Gallon makes plays on opening day (free)

Ohio State commit Corey Brown, who's playing wide receiver this week, was injured early in practice when he caught a pass across the middle and then was tackled hard and landed awkwardly on the turf.

Brown said he tweaked his lower back and walked gingerly for the rest of practice. He was involved in some drills during a light afternoon session when the players wore helmets but no pads.

"He took a good shot there," said Smith, who was Brown's coach at Monroeville (Pa.) Gateway. "He caught a good ball in the seam and took a shot in the back, got a little knot. We'll play that by ear and try to get him healthy for later in the week."
