DB Christian Bryant (Official Thread)

Quote from Christian Bryant on ESPN.....

"My final decision I had to think about not only myself, but my family," Bryant told ESPN affiliate Web site Bucknuts.com. "In my heart (Ohio State) is where I wanted to (spend) the next four years. I had a stronger vibe there."

Can't wait to see him on the field!

Football: Glenville corner chooses Buckeyes

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

The Cleveland Glenville-to-Ohio State recruiting pipeline was in jeopardy of running dry this year, until Christian Bryant stepped up yesterday and primed the pump.

Considered one of the top 10 cornerback prospects in the nation by several recruiting services, Bryant picked Ohio State over North Carolina. He became the 18th member of the Buckeyes' 2010 class, with national signing day looming in a week.

Bryant became the 16th Tarblooders player in nine years to pick the Buckeyes, with at least one signing all nine years. The streak started with eventual Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Troy Smith in 2002.

"It feels good to be the guy to keep that pipeline going, because I know how much of an impact Ohio State has had on this school, and I know how much Glenville has done for Ohio State," Bryant said. "It's great just to be acknowledged as one of those guys who could."

With the pipeline in mind, longtime Glenville coach Ted Ginn said the Buckeyes "are getting another Donte Whitner," a Tarblooders defensive back who signed with OSU in 2003 and, in 2006, was the eighth overall pick in the NFL draft.

"Like Donte, Christian is very intelligent, he knows the game, he's hard-nosed," Ginn said.

The 5-foot-11, 175-pound Bryant appreciated the Whitner analogy.

"Just seeing where Donte is now, that's great to be compared to him as far as I'm concerned," Bryant said. "I've still got a lot of things to improve on to play to that level, but I will go down to Ohio State with my game face on, competing for a job. And I feel like I will play early, as long as I compete and practice hard."

Scout $ - Bryant Is All Buckeye
By Bill Greene
Posted Jan 26, 2010

Has dreamt about being a Buckeye since he was little... Said he felt that OSU was the best place for him all along... Lots of quotes thanking his parents, Ginn Sr., Glenville coaches & teachers, and OSU coaches... Touches on the special qualities on many of those relationships including those with Tressel & Taver Johnson...

Impressive doesn't quite cover how Bryant comes off. He's obviously a serious competitor with his head on straight yet very humble and committed to building relationships beyond football. I think Bryant just became my new favorite player in the class.
