DB Adam Griffin (official thread)

Welcome, Adam!!

I, for one, love this offer.

What I see is a quick, nimble athlete that has a real chance at a position on either side of the ball. Also, this kid was going to spurn other scholarship offers (and I don't care if they aren't "elite" offers as some of you have said, they are legit D1 offers no matter what school) just to walk on tells me he will have a great passion for playing at The Ohio State University.

Go Adam! Go Bucks!:osu:

There's a guy up the road at Pitt who had a Griffin-esque season last year - whose other best offers were Miami (OH) and Tulane. Offer list is usually a good indicator, but it isn't everything.

The conventional wisdom on Zach Boren was that his 'ship was a waste and a throw-in too. He's working out pretty well so far.

Let's get the kid on the practice field and let his performance do the talking.

I was unaware Archie Griffin was the player who committed.

Uh, I was correcting Oneshot's post about Adam that said "His dad" won 4 Rose Bowls. Oneshot's point was that Archie's accomplishments were good enough that his son's commitment should be given some slack by those who were "scratching their heads" over the offer to Adam, and thus Oneshot's reference to the Heismans and Rose Bowls (with which I agree...I was simply correcting an inaccuracy).

Maybe a little reading comprehension on your part would be helpful.

Legacy and so much more......

Even if Adam Griffin were some rec league third stringer, this works for me!

In my book, his father is the Greatest Buckeye and the university should pony up.

But all of that being said, Adam Griffin is a very good football player and deserving. I would venture a guess that he will do nothing but improve over time. His offer to walk on says a lot about his want to be at OSU. He will find a way to get on the field.

In addition, he also will graduate from Saint Francis DeSales, and being an alumni of DeSales it works at a personal level as well.

He is deserving.

Go Bucks-Go Stallions!

I haven't seen Adam play but I hope he earned the offer on his own merit. I would be disappointed if an offer were given to a lesser player because of who their father is.

I agree totally with this post. My intent was to say I believe he has merit. But again I would have no issue with this scholarship tender.

All the Griffins have athletic talent so I expect Adam to be every bit the athlete Ray or Archie were. He'll probably be a DB.
Congrats to the Griffin family and Archie. Thanks for sending your kid to The Ohio State University! :oh:

Watched the vid, like what I see, like the offer, Buckeye Royalty.

Question, Should we need to free up space for an additional schollie over the next four or five years could the AG fam agree to foot the bill for Adam as schollies are only one year commitments that can be renewable for the ath's time at the university?

Welcome and Congrats Adam!

Adam Had a brother Elijah that was was a recruit a few years ago, he was a little smaller (like 5'7" 165) but if I remember he had great high school rushing numbers at Westerville, but got no D1 offers and ended up at Findlay I think.

Might have been posted earlier in this thread, but how were Adam's rushing numbers? was he their primary RB?

Love the offer, If he has Archie's intangibles he'll be a player.

like Archie used to say

"It aint the size of the dog in the fight, its the size of the fight in the dog"

That's what I was wondering about when I read the post regarding Adam wanting to walk-on and Tressel telling him he had a scholarship available.

So Adam would be afforded 50% tuition remission from tOSU with his father's University employment status...

Could his scholarship then be a partial one to make up for the other 50% not covered by his dad's employment? If that is the case could the scholarship be broken up between Adam and another walkon who is already on the team?

Besides actually paying for school I believe scholarship athletes receive other benefits that walk-ons do not. Not sure exactly what they are, but I believe they are related to training table, meals etc. So even if they had a full academic ride ,they would need to be on athletic scholarship to receive these other "perks"

"...offers from all three service academies...."

It does my Buckeye heart good to see that Archie raised a son with the character to have that offer list.
