Davidson 57, Kansas 59 (Final)

It was a fun game to watch but I think I agree with the other posters here: Davidson never gave themselves a chance with that silly last play and neither of these teams would have a chance to go all the way from what we saw last night.

I have not read this entire thread but when you call having a clear shot to win the game "silly" that is stretching it. I agree neither of these teams would beat the other three the way they played yesterday.

It was completely stupid, not silly. They tried to get Curry open, and threw up a desperation three from six feet behind the arc by someone other than Curry. Horrible play.

Davidson blew it....terrible possession

So many things went wrong. Was Davidson out of timeouts before the final one was called with 10 seconds to go? If not, why didn't they wait to take it until after they advanced the ball past half court? Could've saved a few seconds right there. Then, when they HAD to work the ball up the court after the time out, they took their sweet f'ing time! And they had no play drawn up! Shocking, to say the least. I don't know jack about basketball but Christ on a cracker that was dumb.

I don't want to get into a pissin contest with either of you but I disagree with a couple of your statements. Obviously, they wanted to get Curry open to take the last shot but he was double teamed as he came off the screen at the top of the key. There was no way he could get a shot off. The guy who took the shot and no one within 5 and while it was beyond the three-point arc I don't know if it was 6' but he was wide open and the guy was their starting PG.

Not all coaches believe in calling a timeout before they take the last shot in the game. There is some belief amongst some coaches that just gives the other team time to set up their defense a little better and for the other coach to remind his players of certain things. I am sure when they brought the ball across half-court Davidson knew what play they wanted to run but it was rather obvious that Kansas just defensed that play. I think you have to remember that when you run a play in any sport sometimes the defense will just shut it down. That's all. Game over.

Curry was very entertaining to watch during the tourney. I love the underdog. But I have to say, he showed some frustration and some of the passes he threw were down right lazy.

But the kid had a heck of a run...great offensive threat.

I'm sure you know more basketball than I. That being said, in that situation, you must either get Curry a shot, contested or otherwise, and at the very least, if that is impossible, you have a play that allows whomever DOES take the final shot to have an excellent look, being as how Curry was at least double teamed. They did niether, and lost.

I may have been exagerating about the 6'. But I'm telling you, when he took the shot, it seemed desperate and far back to me, and I'm betting that's why he was "wide open".

For the record, I've been to Davidson games where Richards makes that 3 quite routinely..

For the record, it's still a piss-poor look at a game winning shot.
